I have tried 3 of the recipies. All needed adjusting by cooking time or amount of liquid content. Example: The Carrot & Orange Soup (page 46) was delicious but not enough liquid. Far too many recipies require Parmesan cheese which is very hard to get hold of in a vegetarian version. Still worth persevering with but not for the novice cook.

This is a wonderful book for fans of Asian food whether vegan or not. I love having 9 areas of Asia covered in one book. The recipes are well laid out and very easy to follow and most of the ingredients are already in the store cupboard of those of us who cook Asian food regularly so there's no need for lengthy shopping lists - you can just pick up the book and start cooking. Lots of the recipes are pretty quick to cook too which makes it great to use after a day at work. I've only had this book a couple of weeks and I've already tried 8 recipes and they've all been excellent - especially the Split Pea Fritter Curry - love it!

The most common ingredient in this book is "vegan margarine", and all the recipes give you a product which is uncomfortably high in fat. In addition, you need to check your fat very carefully. Most margarines, including margarines made entirely from vegetable oil, contain partly hydrogenated oils. That's trans fat, the very last thing you should be eating.

I like Natalia Rose's take on raw food and a better 'whole' life. She advocates eating organic, seasonal, local food in the raw, either wholly or partially. And she helps integrate the body, mind and spirit in the entire endeavour. I think her first book, on diet and detox, is a better introduction to her whole world and work, but this is still a very accessible book for the reader new to raw food (which means raw or cooked at extremely low heats). I agree with one viewer below that this is not the book for the rabid vegan who will never want to read a thing about anyone who eats differently... but very few people are so narrow in their thinking.
