Looked smart & reliable, worked great, a lovely birthday present. My first ever coffee grinder and it gave me a taste for the real thing so the coffee must have been fine - but it broke down 3 months in! I didn't use it more than once or twice a week, it certainly wasn't overwork. Now have to buy another, so I guess it did some manufacturer some good by getting me hooked, but I'll never buy wahl again.

Until now i'd been grinding beans with my multipurpose blender which could easily be disassembled and cleaned. With this grinder, there are no detachable parts. To clean the manual suggests you sweep out execess grind with a small brush (like what?) then wipe with a damp cloth. I just use a kitchen towell.

Besides that, the product is excellent. Makes a beautiful, fine espresso grind for my new Bialetti.

When my wife dropped and broke our Bodum C-Mill Coffee Grinder, she replaced it with this item. It does the job well enough, and the snug fitting, generous lid is a good feature that allows you to tip the ground coffee into it before emptying into the cafetiere. The downside, however, is that every time I do a grind I'm left with the unpleasant whiff of burnt shellac from the grinder's little motor. I'd take back my old Bodum 5679 C-Mill Electric Coffee Grinder any day.

I'm pretty sure this is the model I have, it looks identical but I can't be sure because it's now so old the writing's wiped off. This is the second I've had, the first bought in the early 1980s gunked up when I used it to blend something wet (NOT A GOOD IDEA) and my current one I bought from the local Oxfam store for £5 in the early 90s). Still going strong and producing excellent grinds though I may upgrade to a 'burr' grinder soon after the recent acquisition of an espresso maker (though I'll no doubt hang on to this one as a reserve). Why has it lasted so long? I'm not sure, other than the build quality, I tend to grind in bursts of a few seconds rather than just sticking my thumb down for half a minute (which I'm sure also helps to grind ... Read More:

I bought this grinder as the Starbucks Barista (it's REAL name is the Solis 116 - it gets re-badged by Dualit/Starbucks). I've had it for well over a year, and it is performing as well today as it was when I bought it.

So, in all a reliable great value for money grinder, whose misgivings can all be fixed as follows:

1. The 'it grinds to fine' or (as I have found when using it to get a decent espresso) 'it doesn't grind fine enough' problem can be fixed quite simply if you're willing to dismantle it - follow the excellent instructions that can be found by putting 'grinder tweaks' into google.

2. the static problem goes away if you 'earth' the ground outlet with a metal object - which means getting a teaspoon ... Read More:

I was somewhat sceptical about buying this grinder loooking at people's reviews on here, but I'm glad I bought it.

In response to negative points, particularly on the 1* review, I believe there may have been a fault with theirs, I have experienced no such problem with attaching the handle, and the instructions explain how to adjust the grind.

I'm using this primarily for a french press, but I had an experiment as to how fine the grind was to go, and I got it to a very fine grind, that was exceptionally even, ideal for espresso really, particularly for this price. Of course, at that fineness it would take a while, which leads me on to a point about speed.

I use a Kitchenaid Proline grinder at home partnered with my espresso ... Read More:

A great grinder that works perfectly well, until it breaks. The interior plastic washer on the spindle broke off after 8 months of using it once a week to grind a few spices. The blades no longer turn freely.

I bought this coffee grinder on the strength of the previous two reviews and I have to say I totally agree with them. This Kenwood coffee grinder is great. It is very easy to use: just push down the button for a few seconds and you have perfect coffee. Another great adavantage is that it is compact so you can take it with you when you travel. I wouldn't be without it. I brought a lot of coffee beans back from a trip round Central America and find that the beans from Guatemala and Panama make particularly good coffee.

This little machine (that's what I like about it - it's small and doesn't take up half of the kitchen) does a brilliant job and, if you use it correctly according to the instructions (which some of the 2* reviewers clearly haven't done), it produces consistant grinds and consistant amounts of coffee every time. I keep it next to my Krups coffee maker which is styled in the same way and it looks very attractive. It's a bit loud but then coffee grinders always are. I love it!
