I bought this iron about six months ago and it has worked perfectly since day one. The range of steam settings offers good incremental positions and the no steam setting can be selected with one small movement of the slide. The shape of the face plate seems to suit my shirt size(16)and I think my shirts have never looked better. I iron my shirts box flat when travelling for business or when I have limited space and a work colleague has now asked me three times if my shirt was new! The water reservoir is a bit small and does need refilling fairly frequently otherwise I would have given this 5 stars.

I have had my Phillips GC8220 Steam System Iron for almost a year now. It was brilliant for the first few months or so but I noticed that the water tank was leaking. It started as a trickle and evenually the leak soaked through a well folded towel in next to no time. In my despair I sealed all the joints with stong adhesive glue. It did the trick and I am back ironing as happily as ever. Apart from the leak it does the job of ironing really well.

As my wife says, "It's Fantastic, every woman (or person who does the ironing) should have one!" Of course you could say that about any steam generator iron and incase you don't know the advantages of one here they are:- 1. The iron itself is much lighter than a conventional iron as the water and heating elements are elseware so it's much easier on the wrists. 2. It considerably shortens the time taken to do your ironing, because the steam power guarantees you only needing to iron one side, often with only one pass. 3. We bought this iron as a replacement for our "Which? Best Buy" Tefal steam generator. That lasted just a couple of years before its cord covering frayed badly, a fault we put up with for a further two years. At £50.00 to repair we thought it wasn't worthwhile even though it had been an excellent iron in other ways. Yet, as good as the Tefal was, this Philips surpasses it in every detail but one - the Tefal had a better cord storage system that worked well (a small detail). The Philips is light (so much lighter than a standard steam iron), it's powerful (much better than the excellent Tefal even) and it's very compact for such a powerful device. Ive had this Product for a while now + I find it quick + very reliable + does the job perfectly !The only downside to it is the water tank isnt detatchable so you have to carry water to it to fill it up each time + after ten users it has to be rinsed out with cold water so you have to be close to a sink to empty it + its quite Heavy ! But its a powerful Product + works well so Keep your finger's away from it when you press the steam button IT HURTS !

It is rather heavy, though, so tiring when used to clean the car. It is also not as powerful when used with the 12v adaptor and cord. If you are considering it for this purpose, I would not recommend it, however for household crumbs and dirt, I have not used better. A must-have when you have kids.
