I got two boxes of these Kenwood filters to use with my Brita kettle, and although they fit into the filter slot they are noticeably slower than the Brita branded cartridges. If you compare the slots around the filter, the Brita ones have many more and will obviously let more water through in the same time. The Kenwood cartridges only have about 8 slots all the way round! Most filter jugs have sloped sides to keep the water level above the wider top openings for as long as possible, however my kettle has quite a flat pre-filter reservoir, so with only one or two cups worth of water it takes a while before you're ready to go (it's not always convenient to fill the kettle in advance) I'll be switching back ... Very disappointing! 1) Due to the poor desing, broke the first day I bought it. 2) Water takes ages to come out as there's no inlet hole for the air. 3) It's capacity is very low, meaning that you need to re-fill it many times per day. Would have given it no stars at all.

It is a shame that this item is no longer available because I shall not be able to put anybody off buying it! One star is too high a rating for it, but how can one rate it lower? It is fragile, awkward to use and a complete waste of money.

I thought this was okay when I bought it, but after a few months, the filler mechanism becomes very stiff and the countdown timer broke. I ended up by chance using a Brita filter at a friends house and it was in such a differetn league - there's no fiddling with a switch to top it up as there's a genious device that opens when you pour water on it. Also unlike this one, you don't need to ensure it's half full (Kenwood advise that teh filter must not be left below half full so as to keep the element soaked). The build quality and looks of the Brita are far nicer too. If you're considering buying this I'd storngly advise a trip to B&Q or Robert Dyas to see them both in teh flesh as this was a complete waste of money.

I bought this on a whim from Poundstretchers a couple of weeks ago - it was on special offer. It was going for £6.00 and I was spending a fortune on bottled water, so thought what the heck. Now that I've tried it, I can definitely recommend it - it's well worth it. So easy to use and you can taste the difference.
