I bought my DC19 back in June and wanted to hold off reviewing it until I had used it for a while, so 6 months on and I am still enjoying my hoovering sessions with this beauty. I am a single male in a little cottage with both carpeted and bare floors, as well as a log-burner and spider-centric beamed ceilings and have to say this little machine copes admirably with it all. It makes vacuuming a joy, and far from a chore. With the reassuring strong suck even now after half a year and an as yet unwashed filter, it still cleans effectively. WOW! this morning before my dyson arrived i scrubbed all my carpets with a dry scrubbing brush to get rid of the dog hairs and then hoovered them (as i have been doing for months as our vacuum cleaner is rubbish) when the dyson arrived i thought i would test it too make sure it works...wow! it picked up two canisters worth of dog hair..I amazed. i was a bit worried i had wasted a load of money on this cleaner..but it is worth every penny, its fantastic! highly recommend it to all pet owners who are fed up with having dog/cat fur over your black tops and trousers!

Bought this and took it back after one day - the main problem is that I am 5'10" and I found that the hose wasn't long enough for me, even when fully extended. I was getting back ache in just a few minutes due to leaning over because of the short hose. My other half is 6'3" so had more of a problem. The other issues are that I felt it was flimsy, that it didn't pick up too well on a carpet (tho good on hard floors) and had a small capacity. We bought the Bosch BSG71266GB instead which is £50 cheaper and found it instantly better.

Having had the product for a little while now, I find it to be superb. My previous vacuum cleaner was a bagged product, and had a powerful motor, yet having bought this product after my old cleaner finally broke down, I was surprised at how much dust this product picked up, and seemed to make light work of it too! The build quality is also excellent - whilst the machine is slightly on the heavy side, it moves easily, and the wraparound system does make it very neat when stored. It also fits well on stairs as advertised. The tools that it comes with are also good, and can be attached either to the end of the extending 'wand', or directly onto the end of the hose (which detaches very easily from the wand when required). After reading a few bad reviews on this Dyson I certainly had my concerns on it. People were saying that it was too heavy?? awkward to use?? had a small capacity?? and the best of all the lack of suction??????..... So I went home and put it to the test. I have two different types of carpet in my house, short and long pile and this vacuum cleaner works very well on both. I also have a hardwood floor in my hall which the Dyson also cleans very well. Its a very compact machine and will fit into small cupboards and has good accessories to clean cars, curtains and sofa's etc. This is a good vacuum cleaner and the capacity is the same as any other vacuum cleaner of the same size, if you want a larger capacity then I suggest you buy a larger cleaner. ... Just bought the DC20 after having to replace my old DC08. On initial comparison is heavier than my old one but the plastic parts are much more rigid than the old one, this cleaner was also cheaper than my previous cleaner and offers the same tools etc. One of the previous comments about the hose wanting to curl and twist itself I can see getting on my nerves after a while but I guess the hose has to be flexible to allow it to wrap around the cleaner which is so much handier than the DC08. A problem I had with the old one was the clip that holds the telescopic wand and the turbine head snapped twice (as the whole thing was standing in a plastic clip as part of the lid), so Im very glad to see a sturdier clip on the DC20 that isnt moulded inside the machine. ... We had owned an upright Dyson some years before but had since used a normal cylinder vacuum cleaner. I recently purchased the Dyson DC21 and had read the feedback from other customers. I previously owned a Dyson and had bought a cheaper make - big mistake. Dyson is the best by far and the DC 21 is fantastic. Suction power great and the tools fit onto the machine and all fits into place on the vacuum. It is not the lightest but certainly lighter than my cheap copy. Certainly recommend the DC21 and called Dyson to register it for 5 years. Excellent customer service. Highly recommend.

I've been learning about Dyson's excellence for years, but decided to buy it only a week ago, because in Slovakia Dyson is terrrrrible expensive (DC 08 Origin costs half a year ago >600 Euro, which is much more than month average income), therefore nearly nobody buy it ... actually it costs "only" 370 Euro ;-) I bought it in Vienna (Austria) for 239 Euro at MediaMarkt. Only at home I met the first surprise: the date of production is December 2004, so this model is probably bestseller worldwide :-) Next surprise: it can't suck liquids (drops of water are always somewhere).
