In the past twelve years I've managed a grand total of three weeks without a working bread maker (when making olive bread, be sure that the olives you are using are pitted!). This machine recently replaced a Russell Hobbs model that was getting a little squeaky in use. I've by no means explored all its possibilities, but I have never had a break machine as good as this before. I generally prefer to use the dough setting, as I prefer to shape the loaf myself, but I have tried "going all the way" with this machine and apart from the hole in the base where the paddle was, the results are barely distinguishable from a conventional oven baked loaf. This product was unable to fully cook the ingredients of a meal, even after many hours on the high setting. Perhaps it was just this particular unit that was defective, but I will search around for a different model. The Amazon.com returns policy, however, is user friendly and they have provided a full refund.

I can understand the frustration of some reviewers - I guess I've just got lucky on two occasions.....12 for 9 certainly works out a lot cheaper. KEEP CHECKING REGULARLY ON AMAZON - BUT BE WARNED, THEY DO SELL OUT QUICKLY AND THERE'S NOWHERE I'VE FOUND CHEAPER.

Had two now, found food to be excellent potatoes, vegatables, meat in all forms, but will not buy another one due to them both breaking on the catches for the lid, same fault both times!!!!!!!!

I have had a George Foreman before, but cleaning it could be a bit of a hassle until I got this one. It is very easy to use and extremely easy to clean. It is a great price for this model and overall I love it!

Hi, can't understand all the complaints from the other reviews on this product. I think its fab. I get up at 4.30am every morning and it makes me a perfect cup of tea every time. No hassle and no complaints :-)

Out of the box this is a very elegant looking machine compared to most ice cream makers. I had a Philips one some years ago and this unit is no noiser than that, they all seem to make some noise due to the gearing. Freeze the ice bucket in your freezer for 24 hours and its ready. Put on the lid with the paddle and motor and away it goes, pour your mixture in and freezing begins immediately. If the mixture actually freezes completely the machine changed direction to remove the blockage, hence the gearing noise I suspect. In around 15 minutes or less I had lovely frozen yoghurt. This unit is great for small-medium loads 1-2 people maybe three at a stretch but if your looking for family sized then this is maybe a little too small for that. There is nothing nicer ... I've been using slow cookers for about 25 years. I got the 48715 last Christmas (2007) and it's been serving this family of four at least once a week since. Like any other kitchen appliance, some common sense in its use will avoid any of the negatives I've read here. A slow cooker is not a 'set-it-and-forget-it' device, and they're not marketed as such. Admittedly the 48715 runs hotter than one might expect, but that's true of most modern slow cookers. In fact the one niggle I have with it is the number of times I've inadvertently touched the hot metal base, but that's me being clumsy. I received this yesterday & have already made (& eaten) 3 1lb loaves. I've found this model very easy to use, I chose this one as it was a 'Which best buy' & compact. Any advice on the paddle? The manual states that it may occassionaly get stuck...I've got a 100% record of digging it out of the bread so far....

I bought mine at the beginning of the year, and I love it. I agree that having to scrape some mix off the sides into the path of the beaters has been a bit irritating (hence only 4 stars), but now I know that it can be adjusted, I'll give it a go. I disagree that stuff is blended, rather than mixed - I find it mixes very thoroughly, and batters etc are as light as air.
