The plastic tabs that hold the lid down are very flimsy and are cracking and wont last very long,I have tried to glue it, this could be a major design fault- can I buy a new lid?

I have used this to fry samosas, spring rolls and other savouries and they have turned out fine. So far the fryer has been easy to use, the timer is quite handy too and it is easy to dismantle for cleaning. On the downside; the frying basket is quite small and the viewing window steams up easily hence 4 stars, but the lid is easy enough to open to check contents. Otherwise a great product particularly because it can be cleaned easily. I really shopped around before buying this one and would recommend as it represents goood value for money at under £40.

After suffering with Kenwood's Total Clean fryer we bought this product because it seemed to answer all the faults of the other one. It has a totally removable rectangular lid - no latches or hinges to break or become gunged up. It is rectangular and it's size makes for more convenient storage, it also has two sturdy handles which make it much safer to move. It has a good length of power cord. It has a timer and only operates when the timer is activated. When the timer returns to zero the unit switches off - so if you forget to do so the thing does not go on heating the oil. The basket is a good size and is easily removeable. The heating element can be completely removed for easy cleaning. The thermostat is very accurate and calibrated in temperature degrees ... it says on page 5 of the manuel IMPORTANT DO NOT WASH THE LID IN A DISHWASHER !!!!!! I think I will bung it in and see wot happens

This fryer does its job extremely well. Cooking chips is what its employed to do and it performs this task efficiently. However, I bought this particular fryer based on its easy clean functionality and unfortunately it is this that lets it down. Fat splashes quickly build up around the rim and prove excessively difficult to then wash off. Leave it for a couple weeks and you'll find yourself faced with a monumental cleaning task. Perhaps the task would be more easily achieved with a dishwasher which I don't own. Another gripe is the temperature control wheel WILL get greasy at some point and what was already a difficult switch to turn, leads to the entire family taking turns in futile attempts to turn the blighted thing. ... Before reading this book i had already read Chris Ryan's "The one that got away" and Andy's "Bravo Two Zero", after reading both of those i wondered if i could find a better book..... I did!! this book has to be one of the best war/sas books i have ever read, i totally recommend this book to everyone who is interested in the SAS or any other military based interests.

I have had this fryer for about a year, I don't use it alot, now and again for home made chips. I have made sure the oil is just below MAX level but it always drips oil through the shell and onto the surface it is standing on. It has actually boiled over once! I am now looking for a sealed, safer, less smelly deep fat fryer.

Bought this fryer recently as fed up of spending far too much of my life waiting for things to cook in our passed its best oven. This fryer is great and we have had perfectly cooked chips every time and would definately recommend this product. Only slight drawback is that the viewing window doesn't do it for us and I keep have to lift the lid to see if my chips are yet cooked to perfection. But otherwise a fabulous buy!

We got the 45470 last December, oddly as a result of researching the intertubes for slow-cooker chicken recipes. I kept stumbling across fantastic coatings for deep-fried chicken and similar. Long story short, I went for the 45470 from Amazon and it's turned out ideal. We have a pokey little kitchen and the 40cm x 17cm footprint doesn't take up too much room. The thermostat is accurate and the massive heating element gets things sizzling in minutes. Oil is readily available in 3-litre bottles which (with the heater installed) fills it right to the line. We only use the fryer occasionally, so we filter the cooled oil after use and store it back in the original bottle in a cool place.
