Have any of you owners tried your machine on hard floors? I emailed Vax and they say it's suitable, but I have a large slate floor which is naturally uneven. I'm a bit worried the machine won't be up to it, though it seems great from the reviews generally, and the carpet washing sounds popular! I just want to get the right tool...not sure whether to go for one of these or a scrubber-drier (more of a commercial thing?)

Having owned a Bissell powerwash pro heat for three years and had nothing but trouble with the customer service and spare parts people I finally cracked and bought the Vax V124. Fantastic is all I can say, it is easy to use, dries the carpets better than the bissell, my lounge carpet was a good test subject as it was covered in muddy dog prints, the V124 cleans far better than my bissell ever did and uses far less cleaning fluid than the bissell making it far less costly to use especially if you have dogs and kids and are often forced to clean the carpets. My sons bedroom carpet was in a bit of a state, and having only ever hired big hulking carpet washers, I did have my fingers crossed the first time I used it- it was brilliant! There were a couple of small areas that needed doing twice, but I couldn't believe how well the carpet came up. A few reviews have said that this machine is noisy, but I've heard louder! I'm glad that those comments didn't put me off purchasing! bought this a few days ago .found it seemed to clean ok but suddenly found the cleaning solution coming out without me pressing the switch.also it seems that some dirty water gets into motor and comes out underneath .has anyone else had this problem?

I have owned this Vax for a number of years and it works perfectly every time. I have always used it for cleaning the carpets, having a dog, this can be quite often. It brings the carpets up nice and clean and they dry fairly swiftly. For the first time I actually used it as a dry cleaner and it worked very well. It is a bit of a nuisance having to convert it from wet to dry but other than that its very good. I only used it because my normal Dyson machine is playing up. So its a good purchase overall.

Borrowed this from a friend after the cat took to weeing on the carpet. It has done a good job on cleaning up the mess, and the smell. It does seem to use very little cleaning fluid, even after I managed to connect it properly. However, no matter what I did, it seemed to constantly leak (mainly from the clean water tank but hard to tell) so if I left the machine sat anywhere for long there were big wet patches. Having used it, I'm very tempted to buy my own cleaner as it's done a surprisingly good job and is cheaper than expected, but I might shop around for one that is less dribbly.

Despite some of the negative comments about this product I took the plunge (although not bought at Amazon, I needed something this weekend). Assembly was very straightforward, and yes you have to screw some things together but it's hardly what I'd call complicated (4 screws in total). In all it took me about 5-10 mins to put it all together ready for use. The dirty water tank is in the lower part (in the base) with the clean water/detergent in the white tank attached to the main handle. Both go on and off very easily, and it was quick and straightforward to empty the dirty water and refill the clean tank. Yes the capacity is not huge (as some others have complained about in their reviews), but at the end of the day the design is just a series of trade-offs. ... Read More:

Vax V-123 Agilty Upright Carpet Washer I have only used this machine once so maybe I need a little more practice but I was very disappointed with the performance. The washing action is excellent and the brushes really bring up the pile of the carpet. However I think I may have put down too much liquid as the carpets remained wet for days. There was also very little liquid in the retrieval tank - I don't know if I have a fault with the machine or whether the suction is not as good as the old VAX units. I purchased the machine to also deal with spillages and on this showing I don't think it will be very efficient. I will try it out again and maybe use less liquid this time but my first attempt was very disappointing.

brought this scrubber as we had got a new puppy. Certainly saved us having to get our full sized carpet cleaner out. Not the worlds strongest machine - but certainly did what we wanted and helped with "little accidents"
