After reading several reviews sites I decided to take the plunge. My old vacuum had just about had it. The Vax Mach 7 arrived within two days. Assembly is only two screws for the handle. I was using it within minutes. I found the noise level quite acceptable and the tools were adequate. Yes as others have said it's on the heavy-ish side, but I think that it gives it a reassuring feel of a solid well build machine. I was dismayed at the sheer amount of muck that started flying into the vacuum. Just goes to show you never know what's lucking on the floor. I bought this about 3 weeks ago and am not impressed. It replaces a 6 year old Dyson and does not perform anywhere near as well. It is so badly made when I was assembling it one of the plastic accessory holders broke off. It is also quite heavy to carry about & is not adept at picking up bits, it pushes them about the floor and leaves them behind when you change direction. It works moderately well on carpet but is pathetic on solid floors. Altogether a very disappointing purchase.

After years of Dysons and after each one swearing I'd never buy another I decided to buy this Vax. Looks impressive but fails to deliver. I find it does not pick up well on hard floors, it takes 3 times as long as before for an unsatisfactory result. Carpets are ok and the extension is good for cleaning the stairs. Hoovering with this is better than going to the gym as THIS HOOVER IS HEAVY when you are using on carpets. If you have any type of back problem I would avoid this hoover. I dislike this hoover with a passion and am contemplating buying a different one as a result. Come back Dyson, all is forgiven.

Unfortunately I had to return this particular model because of a fault. The carpet control Knob was extremely stiff and could not be adjusted, I found that the Mach6 was not that powerful and had to go over the same spot a few times, just to pick up the slightest crumb, but then this may have been a fault with that particular machine. I found it very heavy and quite awkward to use. I did not like the shinny green knobs as this made the machine look cheap and I feel they would tarnish in time. So overall I was not that inpressed with the Mach6 fault or not.

Bought this cleaner in Sept 07. In a few months it had been back to VAX twice. Appears to have serious design flaws: first the belt snaps when cleaner switched on after emptying the dust box for some reason. Belt is so firm that replacing it often causes you to break off the plastic end of the beater bar. (Costs £18 to replace.) Don't be tempted by robust appearance as that makes the machine very heavy. Going to dump this machine as its pants.

Purchased this vac to replace an old cylinder vacuum cleaner, and after the first vacuum around, i suddenly felt like I must have been living in a hole - the dirt volume it lifted from the carpet was phenomenal! the containment for the dirt is dead easy to empty - even my 4yr old could do it if allowed. Super wide front and reaches right to the edge. excellent idea to have the on/off switch on the handle - why cant more manufacturers think of that? The design of the hose extension is also such no suction is lost. Super value vacuum - exactly what you'd expect from a dyson; but cheaper!

I agree with the worst review of this cleaner. I bought it because of the good reviews on this website ( were they just trying to sell it??)and I sooo regret it! The filter is a pain as described and worse if you accidentally throw it away with the dust it costs £15 to replace so be careful! The flex comes out at the bottom of the cleaner and so tangles up in the wheels. The suction is mega it will pull your carpets off the floor and stick itself to your laminate! Turn it down to a lower setting and it leaves everything behind! Heavy, awkward, don't buy it, I wish I hadn't. Anyone want a 8 month old one???

I bought one of these to leave upstairs as my big electrolux upright is too heavy to carry up and down stairs. The VAX is much smaller and lighter which means its very easy to move, carry and also to store. It's so light that that you can use the whole vac to do the stairs with ease, and you just can't compare using a stair attachment to using a real vac on your stairs, this makes the stair carpet look like new and takes no time at all! I was so impressed with it that I tried it on my downstairs carpet, first I used my big electrolux upright, then I went over it again with the VAX, wow, I couldn't believe how much more it picked up! I bought this model around 6 months ago to replace my basic Dyson DC07 because after reading reviews it appeared that this was just as good as the Dyson. WRONG! - it is far too heavy and does not pick up anywhere near as good as the Dyson. If you use the hose, the cleaner immediately falls over, probably because it is so heavy. Anyway, I have finally given in and have today received my new Dyson DC14 because I could not endure the frustration of trying to hoover with the Vax a minute longer. What a relief! PS - If I could give it 0 stars, I would!!
