This griddle is brilliant. I enjoy using it several times a week. What I have discovered since owning it is: Is is not necessary to season it, (written in Le Creuset's care guide) as the special interior enamel coating does not require it. The best way I have found to clean it is; let it cool whilst you eat your meal,then add a dash of washing up liquid and fill with hot water. Leave it to soak, 30 minutes, then using a normal dish cloth (not a scrubby one) see it the residue comes away easily. I was dithering as to but a plain cast iron pan or an expensive enamalled one. In the end after reading up on things i decided to give the more frugle option a go. The pan has lived up to all my expectations with any problems i've experienced being my own fault. Seasoning was a slightly smelly process but not too hard, just make sure you use a meatal scourer to make the key. When cook remember to be brave and only turn the food once it hase been sufficiently seared to become loose on the pan or you will be swearing about stuck food, a hard cleaning job and a possibly re-seasoning job.

My second foray into the Le Creuset cast iron range was this superb "Grillit" - or griddle-pan to the rest of us! At 26cm, it's big enough to cook one huge beef steak or several smaller items like chicken breasts. It's a good, sturdy pan with a lip on each side to help you pour off the fat and a good sized handle and a helper-handle to facilitate lifting it. As with all cast iron kitchenware, it's VERY heavy, so not something to consider buying unless you know you can cope with the weight. It holds the heat fantastically and takes no time at all to heat up. The secret to cooking a good steak is to thow it into a very hot pan - this grillit makes that very easy as it only really gets very hot - it's not so good at subtle, low temperatures, but then you don't need ... Great quality if a bit pricey compared to Pyrex. Heat capacity makes for good cooking, makes great lasagne for instance. Robust, keeps it's colour, easy to clean but it's heavy. People with weak wrists might struggle to lift it easily. If you put it on direct heat e.g. gas ring, it can damage the finish.

Looks very nice but loses time so not great as far as clocks go. I am returning it and hope that a replacement works better.
