These other reviews are so negative just bought this vac and I can honestly say it is excellent. Sooks up everything. Plus you can turn off the brush therefore if you have hard floors it wont damage them. Plus if you have rugs it doesnt sook them in and get tangled up. Great design recommended.

I've had my DC14 for four years, and had an entry level Dyson cylinder for about seven prior to that. It does pick up loads - but....if you have laminate floor and lots of cat-generated "dust bunnies" it is such a pain - the air expelled from it blows the hair (and dust?) around so much that you are constantly chasing bits around. My partner refuses to use it as an upright at all because of this, instead using the various attachments, which obviously takes much longer as they are not as big as a full-size cylinder head. It's great on our stair and landing carpet, however, and if you have carpet throughout, go for it - but buy the cylinder model. The upright is very heavy, very difficult to manoeuvre, and doesn't pick up to the edge of the room any ... Read More:

It collects very well and is easy to empty as it has a trigger that you pull that released the dust and dirt from the bottom of the bin. It has great suction and collects dog hair quite well. The only thing I am not too keen on is the fact that it is very heavy to carry upstairs.
