I agree with the review above - I have had this product for less than three years and after a limited amount of use one of my beaters has also fallen apart. For environmetnal reasons I am just going to replace the broken beater but I am frustrated that the initial product was poor quality and that the replacement is nearly the same price as the initial product.

We bought this toaster as we were making bread in the bread machine and finding it hard to get the bread into our 2 slice toaster. We had to chop the tops of as it makes bread a bit bigger than standard. It did the job as far as that was concerned. Worked fine as a toaster - as previous reviewers have said it doesn't quite push up enough for getting smaller things out of it - but this wasn't a big prob for us - just get the little tongs out when necessary. After many years - can't remember how long - it sparked the other day and is now broken. I am on here looking for a new toaster now and seriously considering just getting another one of these because it has done us so well. I'd love to give this kettle 5 stars. It's quick. It's quiet. It's great to watch the crescendo of bubbles rising as it boils! It's great too to see exactly where the water level is at,and you can boil the absolute minimum if you wish. The lid is no problem so far (3 weeks)and not a scratch in sight! And I got it for only £29 post free from John Lewis. BUT - if only, if only, if only I could fill it direct from the tap without that chlorine taste in my tea from water which when unboiled or boiled in the kettles they used to make tastes free of chemicals! And it's not a plastic taste nor a steel taste. If I filter the water it's alright. If I get water from the burn its fine. Yet my 3 year old Bush doesn't and never ever did taste ... Read More:

I've had this for 3 years now and we only now have to buy a new 'permanent filter.' It's a great product. Brews quickly, has a reliable timer when you need to wake up to the smell of coffee, and we are very pleased with it. Dishwasher safe as well - bonus.

The actual unit makes good coffee, and it's neat and compact, but the fact that the jug has a plastic lid is its downfall. The "bubble" on top of the lid is the bit that causes the hot water to drain into the jug having been poured through the coffee grains, but this is only attached by tiny pieces of plastic which eventually break. Once one of the sides of the "bubble" comes adrift, then the mechanism no longer works, and the coffee is stuck above the jug! We ordered a replacement jug just before New Year 2007, and are still waiting at the end of May 2008, with no hope of it coming into stock. We have just given up, and have ordered a new coffee maker with a stainless steel lid, and the whole new unit cost just £7 more than the cost of the replacement ... Read More:

We bought one of these 2 years ago. We're a toast family so this machine gets used at least 3 times a day, every day, no trouble to date, ever. It works perfectly for own sliced bread, and the timer rather than thermostat function means you can just do bread a bit longer when it gets a little dryer, so perfect every time. Because it does not pop up it stays warm longer. The kids have worked out ticking means hot, which is excellent. It cleans easily [ours still looks like new] and the crumb tray is simple to clear too. We looked for quality and value and have found it in this, will never buy a pop-up again [not that we expect to have to buy again for quite some time].
