The slicer works okay but traps some vegetables between the drum and the casing, and quite honestly is more trouble than it is worth unless you are slicing a large amount. The mincer/grinder isn't really up to the job. Okay, but if you only want to do small batches. I found meat easier to mince when it had been cubed and partially frozen. The price of this set in the UK is absolutely ridiculous. You can buy the identical set on Amazon.com for $99.99 (usually $116.99) which works out £50 / £58. If you have a friend/relative in the US, or are staying there for a couple of weeks you could order one on Amazon.com and get it delivered to your hotel. This blender is superb. It's build is very solid and you can tell the quality by the weight. Cleaning is easy as it all goes in the dishwasher. The whole family have enjoyed smoothies made with this since we bought it in January. As others have said, it is expensive, but you don't mind paying for a quality product!

The jug connects to the motorised base via a hard rubber coupling. If only it didn't. Google kitchenaid spares and you'll find lots of these couplings for sale. Why? Because they break. I put a small amount of stale bread in mine to make breadcrumbs (something my old Kenwood could do without breaking stride) and after a few seconds the motor noise changed. When I checked, the blade wasn't turning but the motor still was. The reason? That rubber coupling had crumbled under the strain of making a handful of breadcrumbs. This is such a basic design flaw that they should either make the coupling out of something more durable ('let's use rubber; that'll really last') or recall the product. i bought this two years ago and have only used it infrequently. on the previous occasions it worked well enough. the bowls are adequately sized, although stuff tends to spill out of the large one due to the wall of the central hole (through which the blades are held) seems too low to cope with larger amounts. & it's nice to have a small sized bowl too. the bowls themselves are made from thick plastic which appear sturdy and at less risk of breakage than other food processor models. the blades are sharp and seem robust enough. the motor is powerful and relatively quiet. all the attachments work brilliantly. i'm particularly fond of the egg whisk, which does exactly what it says on the tin. the very substantial citrus press is by far more ... i bought this in a fluke week, i think, when amazon were flogging it for £59, so i got a bit of a bargain. & so far it has proved itself in spades. the thing doesn't chop your ingredients, it pulverises them by brute force. the blades are robust. the glass is thick and hopefully pretty much unbreakable. the engine is powerful. and it's fairly easy to clean, seeing that the bottom screws off and allows access to all the gunk stuck at the bottom. would i buy it again? definitely.

We have made great espresso grinds with this little machine. It's a great entry level Burr grinder well worth the purchase.
