At the time of writing this review, there are two others posted, both of which are overwhelmingly enthusiastic. I agree with everything the authors of those say, but they do not tell the whole story. First, although it may be obvious, the capacity is limited. The instructions tell you to use 3 eggs and split the mixture between the two wells. So, if you want a 2 egg omelette or a 4 egg omelette, tough; it's two one and a half egg omelettes or nothing. Second, fillings. The instructions say to put the fillings first into the heated machine and then add the egg mixture, so the result is not a filling in the traditional sense - the result is more like a Spanish omelette, with the filling distributed through the egg. ... This lamp is simply the best you can buy for less than £30. I bought this almost a year back, and it still delivers fine. The light is bright enough to light up my entire study!

I got one of these from the high street to replace a Swan D01 which died after 20 years. Big mistake. The design is full of flaws: 1. No flat top for a tray, so you need to find somewhere else for that. 2. The backlight for the LCD clock is too bright, and is always on. 3. The viewing angle for the LCD clock is too narrow. From my bed, I cannot see the time at all. 4. It boils the tea before the alarm goes off, instead of after, which I want. 5. To work round this I tried setting the alarm only, and then making an "instant" pot of tea. Unfortunately, it will not let you set the "instant" function until 2 minutes after the alarm has gone off. 6. The alarm also rings after making an "instant" ... Read More:

I was disappointed with this lamp and returned it. The illumination by a 60 watt bulb (specified but not supplied) is poor, not least because the bulb is partially enclosed in a rectangular holder that obstructs the light and also makes insertion of the bulb difficult. The 3x magnification only operates at a fair distance from the light source which makes it less useful for close work. The head of the lamp, containing the magnifying lens and the light source, is too heavy for the flimsy joint that holds the angle of the head in position, and so it flops down.
