In the past twelve years I've managed a grand total of three weeks without a working bread maker (when making olive bread, be sure that the olives you are using are pitted!). This machine recently replaced a Russell Hobbs model that was getting a little squeaky in use. I've by no means explored all its possibilities, but I have never had a bread machine as good as this before. I generally prefer to use the dough setting, as I prefer to shape the loaf myself, but I have tried "going all the way" with this machine and apart from the hole in the base where the paddle was, the results are barely distinguishable from a conventional oven baked loaf. I have had nothing but problems with the plate not revolving. Everytime something is placed on it, it dislodges the small turntable mechanism so everything has to be taken out and the mechanism pushed back into place firmly, which is also fiddly. It will then work, but when I go back to put something different in I have to do the same again if I want the plate to turn. I would not choose this model again.

I have had two NN-A554W and both developed exactly the same fault in exactly the same place (burnt door seal) after very little use. I still don't know how or why that happened and Panasonic couldn't or wouldn't explain it. As the second appliance was still under guarantee (just four months old, less than two months of use) I got my money back (thanks Amazon). I now need another microwave but I will not be buying another Panasonic. I advise all users to check the door seal regularly.

Bought this based on the Which? report, it was judged the best standalone solo microwave. It is a bit plastic-y, and the first one I received was broken (not encouraging). Credit to Amazon though, they sent a replacement that arrived the next day - well done Amazon! New one great, and so far working as hoped! Would recommend it.

I have had a couple of breadmakers, and although this was a bit more than I wanted to pay, it has been definitely worth it. It was so easy to get used to, and the bread has been the best from any breadmaker I have had. I have tried a few of the doughs and tried adding seeds to the bread mixture, all of which have turned out brilliantly. Shop bread comes a definite second best in comparison. In fact I never buy bread now. this is a great machine and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

We have had two of this model in the past 3 months. The first lasted for 2 months before developing a serious fault. The second one developed the same fault within one day of use. The exterior casing of the oven became extremely hot whilst the contents of the oven did not even get warm. Steer away from this model!! I have had several microwaves over the years and this is by far the best. It is an 'Inverter' microwave, this means that when using functions such as defrost rather than 'pulsing' on high power, it can actually operate at a lower power which most microwaves can't. It is the first microwave I have used with a decent browning and crisping function. It comes with an excellent Panacrunch pan, which just looks like a round metal dish, but when you use it you can cook pizza, hash browns, quiche, pastys etc... and they always come out brown and crispy. Tonight I used it to cook Breaded Jalapino peppers, they normally take 15 mins in a conventional oven. They took just 4 mins and came out lovely and crispy!! I would highly recommend ... Read More:

A really superb looking microwave with touch-sensitive controls that is simple to use and understand. It comes with a clear, comprehensive booklet that also contains some simple recipe ideas. The 5 rings that signal the end of cooking might trouble some, but it's particularly useful if you're sitting well away from the oven listening to music or watching tv while you're waiting.
