I was given this as a present a month ago. A bit complex at first, I spent half an hour reading the manual, and it has been fantastic. Timer is set to 0545, and when I get up the coffee is there waiting. I have never used the grinder (I like filter coffee, and it is good not to have to buy filter papers any more), so I can't comment on the noise. At about 0900, I rinse out the various parts, leave them on the draining board, and by lunchtime it is dry and ready to refill for the next morning. One of the best presents I have ever received!

I upgraded from a Morphy Richards Café Rico Espresso Maker to this a few weeks ago and have been very pleased with its performance. It is much more robust than some similarly priced machines and nicely finsihed in silver and matt black. The machine makes an excellent espresso with a thick crema and the milk steamer works well for cappuccino. My only complaints are that the machine is very noisy and it is a little slow to heat up when preparing the first cup, also there is no room for anything larger than a small coffee cup under the nozzle so those wishing to make americano etc- will have to transfer the coffee to another cup. I purchased one of these machines some years ago and having recently moved house, I needed to buy a new coffee maker. So, knowing how Gaggia was a name so synonymous with coffee, I plumped for the Gaggia filter coffee machine. After weeks of trying and bags and bags of wasted coffee, all I've ended up with is weak but bitter coffee with a plastic aftertaste. Therefore I've plumped for another of the Morphy Richards machines. This constantly produces the nicest, richest filter coffees I've yet found from a home machine and I can't recommend it enough for that very reason. The jug may drip but just deal with it. Seriously, try other coffee machines and you'll be wishing you had the drip back!

Despite following instructions I have given up with this kettle. The lid does not fit correctly allowing steam to escape therefore the whistle doesn't work. Despite leaving it to stand after boiling it still splutters water and the lid falls off. I love the design but think it needs a little tweeking!!
