I was very surprised to see that several of the most negative comments about this edition of the Rough Guide to Mallorca were written before the book was published! Remarkable

Have used this map on two holidays and found it to be very accurate for both paths for walking and roads. Shows all roads including unsealed roads that you will need to use to get to the remote beaches. The usual holiday maker maps don't have the detail that this one has. Places of interest are marked, but there is no tourist info as it is a proper map. Is very durable, not shown any signs of wear and tear despite quite a hammering. In fact, like a twit I managed to throw mine away while cleaning out the car and I am going to buy another. If you want to drive in Menorca,buy this map for directions and a guide book for tourist information.

I bought this after booking a last minute deal to Menorca. The information and maps were invaluable. Ut was easy to understand and let us plan our last minute holiday quickly and easily. It provided a good reference for local information and pointed out the main tourist sights. We packed so much into our week because of this little guide! We had a really enjoyable holiday, much more ueful thean the information left by the holiday rep at our appartment. It's slimline design means that it fits into a handbag for easy reference whilst out and about.

Three weeks in Sept/Oct gave us plenty of time to benefit from the routes in Walk Menorca. Everything worked just as described except the Forts Ancient & Modern where the military have evicted the hippies and re-occupied the Lluc al Lari fort; unfortunately. We particularly like the routes linking the resorts and the North coast region. Such beautiful contryside but when the book says it is tough as on the route to Es Grau it really does mean it and without the book you would be unlikely to reach this delightful little settlement. We also bought the Tour & Trail Map which was equally brilliant. Thinking a Menorca author would be more up to date we bought a local booklet - it was useless, not one route worked, some decidedly ... Read More:

Don't bother buying this map - it's rubbish. Most of the roads are missing. The large areas of blank space are pebble-dashed with apparently inaccessible houses and villages. Wide, red 'Hiking trails' have been added that could be mistaken for A-roads and cover up some of the other information. These do however give some clues as to where the roads might be. Menorca may not be overly endowed with dual carriageway, or even tarmac, but surely if you can drive a car down it from one village to the next it's a road. The only useful bits are the insets of main towns. To find your way to those elusive beaches get the 'Menorca Tour and Trail Map' by David & Ros Brawn - it's much better.

Knowing the island very well, I was pleased to see a Mini Rough Guide was written about Menorca. It has some excellent sections, such as the island history and attractions. Unfortunately, I believe it was lacking in the restaurant and bar reviews outside Mahon. One example of this was Es Castell, where only two restaurants were listed - which were by no means the best ones in town.
