I have like previous reviewers of this album finally got around to replacing it on C D . My wife and I listened to it in the car on a long journey and it is still as good if not better now as it was more than a quarter of a century ago. It really has all been said from the vocals to the production even the cover of the album. I must agree that it is possibly the best album of the 1980`s. I guess Michael Jacksons Thriller and Fleetwood Macs Tango in the night would also be contenders but Lexicon of love truly is a timeless album and blows your mind everytime you hear it. That is the true test of any album if you are still enjoying it as much all these years later. A truly awesome album a must buy for any collection.

A marvellous collection of some of ABCs catalogue of excellence on a pretty reasonably priced CD.It's like a night out in an '80's disco but without some of the godawful dross produced by certain other bands of the time, that you had to endure!!
ABC were a top '80's band & the hits they had were a testament to the quality they produced. This CD is a really enjoyable nostalgia trip for those who enjoyed them first time around & a great starting point for those who may have just discovered them.
For me the pick of the crop for showing off Fry's vocal talent is "All Of My Heart" but classics like "Look Of Love", "Poison Arrow" & "When Smokey Sings" keep the quality coming.
A bargain in every way - buy,buy,buy !!

I have been waiting eons for a new ABC*** and I think Traffic is a worthy addition to ABC***'s delectable back catalogue. There are many strong songs on Traffic and Traffic certainly highlights ABC***'s impressive ability to make quality tunes in a wide range of diverse genres.

Health Warning: listening to Traffic cannot do ABC*** justice because to really appreciate ABC*** fully you need to watch them live and experience Martin Fry's supreme showmanship. Conclusion: I think Traffic is definitely worth the ticket price!

One of the best album from the 80s; many of the modern crappers should learn from Martin Fry, Mark White and Trevor Horn.
Strongly reccomended.

Best tracks: "That Was Then, But This is Now", "If I Ever Thought You Were Lonely", "Unzip", "Love's a Dangerous Language"

To pull a Beauty Stab is to take everything that was special and unique about you and then throw it to the wind; this makes it sound like ABC's second album is a disaster, and in regards to how it affected the band's stock both critically and commercially, then yes, this follow-up was a big fat belly-flop of an LP; out went Trevor Horn, out went chocolate box strings, out went the sound of a million dollars, in went rough and ready guitars, an uglier production and lyrics that were just as cutting as sarcastic as those on The Lexicon of Love, but without the warmth and adversity in the face of heartbreak that ... Music : Absolutely ABC: the Greatest Hits
I missed this lot first time around - maybe it was the suits and the hair made me think they were a typical 80's act of packaging without substance. I admit I was wrong: there are too many good ideas on these tracks to allow them to be forgotten, unlike many of their contemporaries. Yes it was - and is - pop music, but the good stuff still sounds good whatever decade it was made. Great production - mostly by Trevor Horn, with Fry and White themselves taking over later - sharp lyrics with some forgiveable self-reverential indulgence, and vocals that sound like they meant it. A short but impressive creative peak before they burned themselves out and, by some accounts, their egos really did get in the way. They couldn't make the souffle rise a second time when they re-formed some years ... Read More:

I just want to agree with the other reviewers (though I must disagree with Jason Parkes' opinion of Up, which I think is probably ABC's second best album).

'How to be a Zillionaire' is a fantastic album; the music is mainly up-tempo catchy electro, the lyrics simultaneously witty and sly.

You get a whopping eight extra tracks, many for the first time on CD and a couple never before available (at least not in the UK). You do miss out on the original 'Be Near Me' 12" (an extra track on the original version of this) and there is still no sight of the original single version of 'How To Be A Millionaire'.

Music : The Lexicon of Love
The 1980s might have been consigned to the dustbin of cultural history by the presence of lazy list-orientated TV programmes & it's chummy revisionist irony. So the 80s were all foppish blokes on yachts espousing Thatcherism & waiting for the revolution that was 60s tribute band The Stone Roses?

ABC's The Lexicon of Love was an instant classic- a vague movement popped up after the dead end of post-punk: records like Me No Pop I, The Sweetest Girl, Partyfearstwo, Penthouse & Pavement, Chant#1 ,Love Action, A Solid Bond in Your Heart & This is What She's Like were all part of a vague movement that took pop music to the next level. ABC's The Lexicon of Love was a key record in all this- taking its influences from the white soul of Hall&Oates/Bee Gees, the perfect pop ... Read More:
