Whilst I myself am not an Abba fan, I bought this CD as a gift for a friend who is an Abba fan. When I listened to 'snatches' from some of the tracks, I thought the CD was a copy of Abba's music and that I must have ordered the wrong item! Then I re-read the details on the Amazon site and some of the reviews and reckoned I must be wrong! I guess the fact that the two "B"s in the middle of the Abba name on the front of the CD were also 'back to front' made me wonder if this CD was a copy of their hits? Can someone please confirm? Many thanks.

People say Abba are the ultimate Singles Band. Well, whether that's true or not, and it quite possibly is, with their massive quota of global mega hits so dearly loved worldwide no less if not more so than they were at the time 30 odd years ago. And I guess there are many who will not venture beyond 'Abba Gold'. But for someone with an in-built dislike of compliation albums, timeless though 'Gold' and 'More Gold' are, I feel compelled to write this review. From 1976 to 1981, Abba released five albums of the highest quality. For every hit single there was an oustanding album cut, and it is hard to believe that more of them were not huge hit singles. First of all, it doesn't make much sense to buy this single except for the original-like cover because every serious ABBA fan owns both songs. Once again a re-issue single with no extra material, no real value at all. On the other hand, ABBA is back in the singles chart after almost 14 years. I don't agree with the re-issue of this single without extra Waterloo versions or a video or anything. I would give this single 2 stars if my intention was to be objective, but I can't force myself because 99% of the people reading this would interpret it as giving ABBA only 2 stars. So, 5 stars because of the songs (both of them), because of the best Eurovision entry in the long history of this contest (maybe they will re-issue Brotherhood Of Man in two years ... Read More:

This album is a much more consistent affair than Abba's first album 'Ring Ring'. The title track will be known by everyone as the 1974 Eurovision winner, but there are several other excellent Abba compositions in this collection. 'Honey Honey' was a US hit and 'Hasta Manana' and 'Dance (Whilst The Music Still Goes On)could easily have become Abba classics had they been released as singles in the UK. 'Gonna Sing You My Love Song' is a beautiful ballad sung by Frida whilst 'My Mama Said' provides an early glimpse of the disco sound that would evolve in 1979 on their album 'Voulez Vous'. A much better collection than 'Ring Ring', but the best was yet to come.
