This is undoubtedly the best value Abba album available, Amazon are so reasonable! This is a 33 song set, it has all 19 hits from Abba Gold, plus 14 others including the stunning 'Ring ring', 'I do, i do, i do, i do, i do', 'Eagle', 'The day before you came' and (my personal fave) 'Summer night city'! It also has German versions of 'Waterloo, ring ting AND another town, another train'. Also included is 'Happy new year', 'So long', 'Honey, honey', 'Under attack', 'Head over heels' AND their first song 'People need love'. Inside there are even pictures of the single covers! I can't imagine any better way to spend this amount of money, perfect for any Abba lover or beginner!

What a disappointment. As an old review of 'the Movie' once said: 'everything is fine about Abba, except the film they have made, it is awful'. Well Abba didn't actually make this - but I bet they're glad! There was a great opportunity here to feature FULL footage of song performances from TV shows around the world. Instead what you get is tiny snippets of their performances in a tiny onscreen tv frame (even worse!), and copious amounts of dull turgid commentary from people you've never heard of who take up far too much screen time. If you want to listen to (and watch) unknown presenters constantly interrupting the 'performances' and telling you things you either knew already or didn't need to know - then buy this. I still can't decide how good Abba's tunes were. They certainly wrote some catchy numbers, but they were no Beatles. As for this live album, it is without merit. All the definitive versions of Abba's songs are on ... erm ... the 2CD 'Definitive Collection'. Avoid this unless you already have every other official Abba album.

if you've never bought an Abba DVD before buy this. However, if you've bought Abba Gold already don't expect anything new. It's yet another recycled packaged. The only good stuff is the bonus footage of Abba live from various television shows, including their last ever official appearance on the BBC. The live footage is great - for die hard fans this makes it a must. For others, only buy if you don't have Abba Gold.

This compilation album needs little introduction as it has sold a zillion copies or something ;), and there is a reason for that. Nobody, not even The Beatles have created a finer collection of pop songs. Pop is often sneered at by some hoity toity music lovers, but there is no need. A finely crafted 3 minute pop tune can be just as meaningful and exquisite as any other piece of music. The tunes Bjorn & Benny created will live on forever, and the girls singing stays in your mind so very easily. For me this is not their ultimate collection, as I liked more of the bitter-sweet songs they did like Eagle and The Day Before You Came. But that's a personal preference. The first seven tracks on this compilation were all released as singles in the UK. Of these, the first five tracks all made the top two in the UK and One of us, their last major international hit, made number three. Among those six, I've never been keen on Chiquitita but the other five are pure magic and very different from each other. The day before you came, very touching and one of my favorite Abba songs, was their last new single. The UK singles buyers had lost interest in Abba by the time it came out but I wonder what it might have done if it had been available a few years earlier. The best part of this collection is the rare, previously unavailable tracks. Never mind that buying this item means acquiring songs one already has; it is the the above mentioned rare stuff that is worth the price of admission. Disc 4, Track 8, Medley, Pick a Bale of Cotton, On Top of Old Smokey, and Midnight Special are interesting. Whoever heard of ABBA singing a CCR song? And Track 11 on the same disc, ABBA Undeleted, in which they're "jamming" is a lot of fun, because it is so informal and spontaneous. Now, if only Agnetha Faltskog's early career German language recordings would once again be available...

I am a massive ABBA fan and I was shocked to learn that they made a movie a few months ago. This movie was not the critics "film of the year" in no way, shape or form. This was due to the loose "plot". The storyline is basic for a few reasons, all Benny (Andersson) wanted was a film that would remind the band of their time in Australia, then a film was born. For 80% they (the band) wasn't even acting. The film is amazing. The picture quality is stunning. Looks like it could have been recorded yesterday. The bonus features disk also gives a lovely little insight to the days gone-by and there is a 40 minute interview with Bjórn, Benny and Lasse (The director) about the movie. Unless you speak Swedish though you'll find the range of subtitles useful. ... Read More:

Exploitation by a bunch of nobodies with mostly stock footage of live performances, several irrelevant to this album. How there can be a discussion of "The Visitors" without any reference to, for example, "The Day Before You Came" eludes me entirely. I wish I'd checked out the other reviews before ordering this effort in cashing in on ABBA.
