Brief review -

Can not compare to the Live in San fransisco album (for me). But still damned impressive guitar work. Some sweet melodies and fingerwork. Much more attention to the overall compositions and less on virtuosity. Generally much more laid back than thier live album 16 odd years previous.

But, this album has style, and I like it a lot none the less.

If you're looking for the franticly extreme skills shown on "fiday night in San fransisco" you wont really find it here.

But for beautiful flamenco atmosphere and noodling galore, buy this!

6....or 7/10 for me

Jazz..Latino..Fusion are the words that describe the style of this instrumental monster! From the lightin' speed ferocity of "Race with devil on the spanish Highway! to the graceful "Elegant Gypsy Suite". I fell in love with this album on first listening! Rhythmically unstoppable guitar-fest!!!!!!

Well ..Al Di is certainly not resting on his laurels after the phenomenal, and sublimely beautiful, "The Grande Passion"!
"Flesh on Flesh" expands on the strong latin influences of the previous CD, but fans of his ferocious talent on electric guitar will be very very pleased to see that Al Di has incorporated this to very great effect on several tracks on "Flesh on Flesh".
His compositional skills are going from strength to strength and he has long since silenced any critics who may have once said his technical skills lacked depth, passion or sensitivity. Quite simply, Al Di Meola is one of THE most gifted guitarists and composers EVER - tie this up with the supremely talented band...including the highly respected Anthony Jackson - who played ... This is a killer album that proves that Di Meola still has got it. I would call Consequence of Chaos a materpiece and I think Di Meola has matured a lot over the years. If you like Di Meola's early work as well as the work he has done the last 10 years you'll love this.

Al has produced some of the finest music I have ever listened to, and with this latest offering from the World Sinfonia group, there is a maturity to the compositions which is mesmerizing. The players, all master musicians in their own right, including the amazing Hernan Romero and Mario Parmisano, add an almost 3-dimensional feel to the whole CD, and the orchestral arrangements, penned by Al & Mario have thrown a whole new light on things... Truly one of the most beautiful pieces of music you will ever hear..... I was lucky enough to see some of these songs performed in New York's Blue Note back in March this year...and the recording has captured the intimate feel of the live performance with grace and precision.....

This is the album that turned my attention to the fabulous world of fusion music (Santana's albums had been preparing me a bit). My Dad bought this album in 1979 and I was listening mainly to Queen,Santana and Rick Wakeman in those days and I remember hearing the first song on the album, Egyptian Danza and was astounded, this was amazing playing, the beauty of his tone, the incredible technique and all those great melodies and rhythms, I have been an Al Di Meola's fan ever since.
After I heard that album I turned my attention to his two previous albums The Land of the Midnigt Sun and Elegant Gypsy (which I think is his ultimate masterpiece and one of the great fusion classics of the 70's) and also to Return to Forever which introduced me to the excellent ... Read More:

This CD is very similar to Flesh on Flesh I have both CD's but wish I hadn't! Even the pic on the back is the same, as for the Music well for those wanting to hear Al at his peak in the old days we keep dreaming don't we? But it never happens. The musicianship is excellent but the content leaves you feeling hollow and never really grabs you. Styles are all mixed up and it never comes to terms with itself, no direction, Race with devil etc etc is the standard golden oldie tagged on as usual, to once again keep you thinking about the old days. Wheres Al going Next? no one knows. What's all this stuff about some Italian Artist, influencing his music? I dunno! It all flatters to deceive. Its Al demiola so you gotta buy it, right? I think that is what he is ... Read More:
