Beautiful recordings from this masterpiece live session at Fillmore east.
Duane is something out of this world - and the others aren't far behind.
I place Duane Allman up there with Peter Green and Hendrix, what a player!
If you like Rock, Blues/Rock then this is for you, Clapton who??

First bought this after hearing the opening of Statesbro Blues, which was recognisable but so different to the previous time I'd heard the song covered by Taj Mahal a few years earlier. This edition of the album still suffers from the same old bad edits but what great performances! Duane and Dickie at their best, Greg in great voice and the rhytm section...well, maybe the best of it's day (and several others).

I know I'll probably be knocked for giving this final Allman Brothers album to feature Duane Alman only three stars; but I must admit that I find it a little uneven.

The album has a strong opener in Gregg Allman's "Ain't Wasting Time No More", but Dickey's Betts' long instrumental "Les Brers in A Minor" sounds a little too loose to keep my interest going.

The melodic "Sweet Melissa" is another strong Gregg Allman effort; one of my favorites.

First track to feature Duane Allman is the extremely long live improvisions over Donovan's "There is a Mountain" called "Mountain Jam". I think you have to be a hard-care Duane Allman fan to really find this interesting.

"One Way Out" and "Trouble No More" are two ... Read More:

This is an excellent compilation that incorporates the best tracks from 2 other compilations - "A Decade Of Hits" and the expanded "The Road Goes on Forever". It includes a fair amount of the bands jamming, as can be expected on one disc.
However, it does not miss on any major songs - 'Ramblin Man', 'Midnight Rider', 'Hoochie Coochie Man', 'Whipping Post' are all present.
Some songs here have been replaced by extended versions (for instance a 7 minute 'Pegasus'), thus including the very best versions available.
This album narrowly misses being a definitive compilation, but is great value for money!

This album is right up there with the very best of ABB. It might just be the best album they have released. Fantastic blues guitar on melodic songs that brings shiver to your spine on more than one occasion. I agree with the previous reviewer that often people tend to hype bands they like even though the review item is not that great. In this case, it is different. I have given this album to many friends that never had listened to the ABB before and they all love it. All the songs are great and the finale is worth the album in itself. Dereck and Warren both on slide guitars with Gregg's soothing voice on top is nothing less than riveting. I am not going to tell you to blindly "go buy it", but if you want that feeling you can get when you just discover ... Read More:

8.Eat A Peach by: The Allman Brothers Band

Music : Eat A Peach
Eat A Peach's best moments are matched in volume only by the tragedy that surrounded its release. After the death of the bands leader and virtuoso guitarist, many bands would have called it a day. Thankfully, The Allman Brothers Band didn't, and this is what they ended up having to show for it.

For me, Eat A Peach, in its original form, comprises of three different batches of songs. Studio songs recorded after Duane's passing, studio songs recorded before Duanes passing, and the live material from before his death. Each of them has their strong points. I was particularly impressed with the post Duane material. 'Ain't Wastin' Time No More'is a piano led motivational anthem, with a fantastic Gregg Allman vocal and Dickey Betts doing an admiral job filling Duane's ... Read More:

Although not as satisfying as the "Eat a Peach" or "Brothers & Sisters" albums, this is a good effort from the Allman Brothers Band. At seven tracks, the standout has to be, "Can't Lose What You Never Had", with great guitar work by Dickey Betts. Gregg Allman's vocals shine on the superb ballad "Win, Lose or Draw" & Chuck Leavell's fine efforts on the Piano dominate the entire album. Dickey's country influences are represented well here by "Just Another Love Song" & the hypnotic instrumental "High Falls". Definitely an underrated album, all fans of the ABB should own this.

10.Where It All Begins by: The Allman Brothers Band
February 01, 2008
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : Where It All Begins
Recorded live in the studio in 1994, "Where It All Begins" is a terrific latter-day Allman Brothers album, the last studio album to feature Richard "Dickey" Betts.
It is filled with big, muscular rock songs, only one of which is over seven minutes long...and that is REALLY tight for an Allman Brothers record!

Musically, "Where It All Begins" is more diverse than most of the band's records, spanning rock, soul, blues, a little bit of jazz and funk, and various forms with a hyphen and the word "rock" (blues-rock, country-rock...)
Gregg Allman has a much stronger presence than on the 1990 comeback album with four songwriting credits, including two of the best songs, the confessional "All Night Train" and the great, muscular funk of "Sailin' 'Cross The ... Read More:
