Twenty tracks from one of punk's more avant-garde ventures. There are the expected punk standards that brought me to the album in the first place: Love Lies Limp; and Action Time Vision, but there's the other tracks that I hadn't really listened to before, the seemingly quiet anger of Another Coke and the ironic humour of Unlikely Star. Because of the direct lineage from punk to the straightforward american rock of the eighties and nineties it is easy, sometimes, to forget the other experiments of the likes of ATV and of the Raincoats. The core punk ethos of uncompromising sincerity is here, the occasional dogey vocals are here but the album is a treat of possibilities, triumphs, energy, and experiment.
