To me this set of eleven songs seems like This Is The Life - a deserving worldwide hit, with six million YouTube views at the time of writing - and ten charming variations. Collectively, they just about pull their weight, and occasionally get close to genius (e.g. 'Poison Prince', in my humble opinion). I very much hope we will see one or two more big ideas in the second album.

I first heard Amy on 'This Morning' and was really surprised, after hearing her speak, how she sung. Assertive, slight country and a bit of Scottish! Truly amasing. Lovely person, unique voice and unique tune. In astonishment I woke up a couple of days after (only heard Amy once) with Amy's song going round in my head ... I think that's a first! My preferences are 'The Cranberries' and 'The Beautiful South'. I now have 'Amy MacDonald. Very best of luck Amy.

I first heard Amy on 'This Morning' and was really surprised, after hearing her speak, how she sung. Assertive, slight country and a bit of Scottish! Truly amasing. Lovely person, unique voice and unique tune. In astonishment I woke up a couple of days after (only heard Amy once) with Amy's song going round in my head ... I think that's a first! My preferences are 'The Cranberries' and 'The Beautiful South'. I now have 'Amy MacDonald. Very best of luck Amy.

Ach, see thon Amy MacDonald, I kent her faither. A peculiarly Scottish way of putting someone down. We like to do that up here in the frozen Scotchland. Our bile is what keeps us warm on those cold winter nights. But Amy is rather good at what she does. It's the every so slightly earnest folk pop of the young, when they think they have something of import to say, before the crushing realities of life bear down on them, taking their dreams and hopes with them, leaving only regrets of the past and fears of the future. Um, koff, yes, so this is a rather good song from a young lady who would seem to have a future in the poptastic world, even if the flugel could have been mixed higher. I jest.
