I love South American music and, in particular, Bossa Nova. This album has all the vibrancy and "smooziness" of these sounds with an added bite.A great CD to listen to on your own or with someone special.

Tanto Tempo was beautiful, but Bebel Gilberto is Superb.! A gorgeous CD. There isn^t one single track I don^t like. A modern day version of 1960s classic Bossa Nova. I just carn^t fault this CD at all. Lovely singing, lovely music. Songs you carn^t stop playing in your head after listening to it. And again as in Tanto Tempo, every song is individual and different.

Excelente para todo amante de la samba y esos sabrosos ritmos de la costa de Rio de Janeiro, esta es la pura musica brasilera, cantada en el mas puro portugués y que a mi en lo personal, me relaja muchisimo y me transporta a un clima tropical, a una playa relajada y sobre todo esa tremenda nostalgia que produce este tipo de musica; por cierto, me recuerda mucho a Sergio Mendes y Brazil'66; Bebel Gilberto nos da un album verdaderamente introspectivo, donde plasma lo mejor de su sentimiento y sus raíces cariocas, para mi uno de sus mejores trabajos como cantante... y compositora!!! I bought the original album on cd about 4 years ago. I bought it after hearing Bebel sing 'Samba e Amor' on 'Later With Jools Holland.' Rarely do I buy albums on the basis of one song but it was one of my most treasured albums...Until a friend lost it. That caused me to replace it, this time with the double cd edition with the remixes. For me, the original set of songs still shines through. Every song has something that, in time will grow on you,(if you don't appreciate it initially) though when Bebel sings in English, I feel some of that passion is lost. Having said that, 'August Day Song' is still a little gem and 'Close Your Eyes' gets the booty shaking. As far as the remixes go, the Buffalo bunch version of 'Close Your Eyes' could satisfy funky house ... Read More:

Suba and Katia B. enthusiasts like myself who were disappointed by the conservative and unimaginatively produced follow-up to Bebel's excellent debut "Tanto Tempo" might do well to look into this collection of remixes. The angles taken by the various remix wizards - many of them unfamiliar names to me, but then I'm no expert - give the songs an edge that they wholly lacked in their original incarnations. On second hearing they even turn out to be quite good songs as well. I especially liked "Aganju", written by Carlinhos Brown and "featuring" Bebel's mum Miucha on background vocals. (Incidentally, some tracks are co-authored by Didi Gutman of the New York band Brazilian Girls. If you like this stuff you should certainly check them out!) The tunes are ... Read More:

Some remix CDs are dull, dull, dull: retreading the same old song over and over again. Not this one. These are re-scores, not remixes, with different arrangements, orchestration, vocals. Beautifully complex and really inventive. Together the CD makes for a wonderful soundtrack to a hot summer's day. Highly recommended.

I bought this CD after hearing it played on an internet music station. I simply love this CD to bits - there's hardly a duff track on there ('So Nice' is a bit sickly) but there are just so many highlights - Tanto Tempo being the main one, but there are many other fine songs too. In short, if you like this style of Brazilian music I can't recommend it enough. My only complaint is that 2001 passed without another solo offering from Bebel.
