TEN STARS FOR THIS ONE! I play it almost endlessly! Bought this album a long time ago but I need to buy it again because so many people keep borrowing it! Grrrr! :o) This brings back so many memories of the Playboys ("Ian!Ian!Ian!") - if you never saw them live (with Mike), even this CD doesn't capture it (as brilliant as it is!)! So, second best to the real thing THIS is what to blast out of your speakers. The one and only Mike Sanchez, seducing the audience with impossibly skillful boogie-woogie and blues. Tighttighttight brass section with Frank and N-N-N-N-Niiick! The wonderful Andy Fairweather-Lowe. And of course Mark and IanIanIan. Read More:

This is a tribute from Jeff Beck to good old-fashioned rock'n'roll, namely Gene Vincent and especially Chris Gallup, his amazing guitarist. This is obviously a work of joy from Jeff, nd his solos are inspired, edgy, fast bursts of pure energy. This is Jeff Beck in another light, and it is a must have for his fans, and generally for all fans of great guitar playing. The band he picked up, the Big TOwn Playboys, really do a good job as well. I am not a nostalgic of the 50's and 60's, but this album is on of my all time favourites. Get this album, you will not be disappointed !!

My friends and I all agree that you could be suicidal, hear the BTPs and find a reason for living. This theory has been tried and tested from London to Memphis to Melbourne, believe me! The Big Town Playboys truly were and are the "best band in the land" and this CD IS an absolute must. I think In The Middle Of The Night remains my favourite track on this album and of all their albums. If you like boogie-woogie, blues, RnB and you like it delivered at both its hottest and it's coolest - and its BEST - you have got to do yourself the biggest favour you can and purchase this little baby. You have been told!

This album, the latest release from the Playboys is the best to date. Don't ever think of boring british blues when you think of the Playboys. This isn't an album of long indulgent guitar solos, this kicks some punch. What is good in particular this time round; you are kept guessing what's coming up next. It breaks the mould, the guests and choice of material just add another dimension to this band. Who needs predictable lines ups and set lists anyway?

First and perhaps best Big Town Playboys CD with the original band lineup including Ricky Cool. More honkey tonk swing than blues. CD Actually has 16 tracks, with three bonus tracks not on the original LP or listed on the case. So pull that dirty piece of rug up off the floor and move your hips, its the Playboy boogie.

Western World is a real return to form for the Playboys. I wasn't sure how the band would sound with a new singer but Big Joe is outstanding. His voice is so full of character. It's really great that the guys are on a leading blues label at long last. The material is a mixture of rare fifties RnB tunes and strong originals that are in the same style. I would recommend this album to all the old PLayboys fans and to anyone who is into good time music.
