Great comedy AGAIN by mr. Cosby. This is one of his finest by far, this is worth getting even just for his story about Go-carts. Fantastic, he tells about his past experiences and can make you laugh even if you try not to. This is a work of genius, i recommend it, trust me, it is very very very funny. I garauntee that no matter who you are, you will enjoy this, trust me. Buy it folks, you will be satisfied.

Bill Cosby's gifted comedically in ways the average sitcom actor dreams of, and has created a level of standup few compete with. He is a master artist, and no mere funnyman. "Bill Cosby Is A Very Funny Fellow... Right!" is one of his best efforts.

Having found "Himself" to be hilarious, I expected more of the same. It is isn't. Instead of stories about his childhood, or his family's adventures at home, he gives us a story about Noah and God talking over how the ark should be built, how his coach would inspire the team, the trouble Superman might run into while changing in the tollbooth, and two cows discussing the dilemma of having hoof and mouth disease. Then there's his story about riding the subways, finding a nut in every car, ... Read More:

"I Started Out as a Child" is very early Bill Cosby, when his standup routines are more about television (e.g., "The Lone Ranger" and "T.V. Football") and places he has been (e.g., "Seattle") more than his own life. Consequently, you get more traditional jokes and punch lines (e.g., "Oops") than we find down the road when Coz starts mining his childhood and the joys of raising his own children for comedy gold. However, we do get a glimpse of the future with "Street Football." The man gets much, much better as a comedian, but it always nice to look back and see how the man started out.

Back when albums were records and not CDS, the title track of "To Russell, My Brother, With Whom I Slept" took up the entire second side of the disc, which makes it the "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" of comedy routines from the 1960s-70s. With this routine Bill Cosby clearly reaches the pinnacle of his craft as a stand-up comic. The other four bits on the album pale into insignificance, mere appetizers in preparation for this comic epic. Cosby had often used his family as a source of comic inspiration, but the depth (and length) of this piece is astounding. Certainly in his recent filmed performances Cosby has created other long comic gems, but this one is the first, and so it is cherisehd with a special fondness.

I recall with feelings of joy doing this routine ... Read More:

I still have vivid memories of being a kid and hearing Bill Cosby do his The Dentist sketch on a show called Solid Gold. It was easily the funniest thing I had ever heard in my life, and I went around telling everyone just how hilarious Bill Cosby was. At the time, I only knew Cosby from his Picture Pages segments on Captain Kangaroo and the Fat Albert cartoons, and I actually felt like some type of visionary when a little television vehicle called The Cosby Show debuted soon thereafter based to a large degree on the comedy you will find on this album (and the longer video from which these tracks were taken). A few of the skits in this performance were translated almost directly to the screen in the show's first few episodes.
