Lucinda's gifted voice is beyond words, so visualise this. You are watching a film on TV or at the cinema and the scene, transfers an overwhelming emotion, that floods you with compassion, maybe tears, physically, you have goose bumps, that are more like goose mountains, you feel so touched, at what you have just seen. Keep with that emotion, that feeling and multiply it again and again, when listening to A Hundred Thousand Angels. This is no ordinary song, it totally moves you. For those that grieve, it provides, peace, reassurance and love. One day, its true gift of love will be a recital at the passing of loved ones and tears and emotions will transfer yet again, at the blessing of saying goodbye to a loved one

Great hymns, great choir, great singing. Why not 5 stars? Well, I feel that towards the beginning of this disc there are moments when the performance is somewhat wooden. I don't know if it's beacuse of the grandness of the choir and the abbey or if it's because you couldn't hear the choirboys (later in the disc you can hear them and it is pure grace), but it is only forever so slightly marred by that.

Bliss crop up regularly on Chill-Out compilations, and I first heard them through Hed Kandi's Winter Chill series. Eventually got round to getting this CD.

It is a wonderful sweeping piece of chill out music, down tempo and relaxing. Just the sort of thing for dozing off to or watching the sun go down. Vocals are effective and unobtrusive, adding to the feeling but not getting in the way.

Definitely worth a purchase. One of the best chill-out CDs I've got hold of for several years.

This is indeed a perfect partner for the subsequent "A Hundred Thousand Angels" album. The first 2 tracks alone should convince you that this is another meditation classic. It has the same winning formula of tuneful, contemplative music enriched with Lucinda Drayton's haunting vocals - a CD that you can actually sit back and listen to enraptured. A CD that really can help ease the cares of the world away, unlike the vast amount of banal 'musical wallpaper' that is on sale in garden centres, health shops etc. under the banner of 'New Age'. Don't buy these poor substitutes - go for the real thing, and whilst you are at it, perhaps treat yourself to some Secret Garden as well.

Having wallowed endlessly in the beautifully contemplative "Through These Eyes" and "A Hundred Thousand Angels" albums, I assumed that this would be more of the same. Yes there are tracks such as 'Starchild' and 'Pale Green Angel' which inhabit the same aching and nostalgic soundworld that one can find in their earlier work, but this CD is generally more up-beat, and might be viewed as Pop rather than New Age.
Easy, pleasant listening nevertheless, and good that Bliss are able to experiment with different genres. I await the next album with intrigue.

This wonderful album represents a kind of bridge between their earlier more purely meditative/new age albums ("through These Eyes", "A 100.000 Angels") and the extravgant pop/soul og "You".

On this album there are certainly elements of pop and soul. As always every song is well-written, and the lyrics thoughtful and artistic. No doubt with an element of reflection and downright sadness creeping in, giving an added depth to the proceedings. And I always feel a tear pressing, when I hear the lines "Just jump off that cliff/And be you you're born to be". To find the courage to make the lion's roar and claim one's divinity!

As always the hauntingly beautiful voice of Lucinda Drayton is at the front. Like Sonia Loinsworth and Donna ... Read More:

Runrig's first album after the departure of Donnie Munro doesn't quite have the confidence or the "wow-factor" of sequel The Stamping Ground. Alone of the dozen or so Runrig albums I own, this seems to be the one whose songs I don't quite remember. In some ways this is probably the Gaelic folk-rock equivalent of a "chillout" album, and it's truly heavenly for drifting off to sleep with, late at night; but the sharp, memorable melodies and potent social comment that made the early Runrig repertoire so unforgettable here are largely absent. Having said that, it's hard to find a flaw as such: Bruce Guthro fits into the niche left by the departing Donnie gently and competently, though without obviously making it his own ("The Stamping Ground" was the place for ... Julian Bliss' brilliantly charming and genial performances of these classic repertoire Clarinet & Piano works are infectiously enjoyable. The accompaniment on the piano is also excellent. This is a must have CD for anyone who's a fan of the Clarinet. You'll also become a Julian Bliss fan when you have listened to this CD! Bravo !!!
