I'm not the world's biggest hip-hop fan. I'm often put off the fact that I have nothing in common with the (usually black) lifestyles alluded to and I dislike aggressive posturing lyrics etc. However I do like hip-hop beats and good, tight rapping.

Braintax is somewhat refreshing in that he is not just copying black, American rappers. He's kept his northern UK accent and taken his own experiences as a white British lad as the subject matter of his writing. I like this. It's not bogus and it shows.

However, personally, I wish he's take it a step further - root out and eliminate the remaining cliches still in the work. I preferred the tracks without the other (more cliched) artists and where he avoided rapping about ... Read More:

Braintax's best album - lyrically and production wise. What I like about Braintax is their is no typical hip hop cliched lines about how 'nice he is with the mike etc etc...'. His subject matter on each track is relentless. He is not spittin hip hop formulas he is spittin his life and just like all of Braintax's LP's u really get a feeling for his his perspective on society and the nuances in life which he appreciates. Don't ask me why though, even though this album is well worthy of 5 stars I found Braintax's albums quite hard to listen to again and again. Maybe a coulple of tracks of his I might have on a playlist but more often then not I have to feel in the mood to lsiten to one of his albums. Could just be me. Anyway best tune on album is 'Last ... Braintax created BIRO FUNK! This was an amazing album and then there is Panorama, where did it go wrong? I only listened to this album twice just to check I wasn't wrong.

Everything about this 12" is great, where to start. Both drop drop some fantastic lyrics over the cheery beat of Riviera Hustle. I know it's considered irrelivent but the sleeve of this record is really nice too, an essential part of the Birofunk collection.
