As I am lucky enough to have the 3 Aznavour english CDs this was culled from, I would like to echo all the other reviews of the wonder that is Aznavour in english. I would just like to put in a word for the main translator of the words into such idiomatically correct english. The english lyrics are in the main the work of Herbert Kretzmer. He is now mainly known for the magnificent job he did on the english translation of Les Miserables, also lyrics for the Peter Sellers/Sophia Loren Goodness, Gracious Me comedy song. If you've a romantic bone in your body, this CD is for you.

This is a CD of live recordings from 1994, a compilation of other Viennese Christmas CDs. As such it is a good quality CD - the clapping is a little irritating, but compared with many similar CDs the quality is excellent. There are some lesser-known tracks here, along with some tracks which are decidedly non-seasonal - "Smile" and "Over The Rainbow" fall into that category. The choral version of Carol of the Bells is not totally traditional, but near enough, and very well done. All singers acquit themselves well - the original concert must have been quite something to listen to live. Not a must- buy then, but a CD I am glad I bought, and one that will be listened to again for Christmases to come.
