This compilation is one of a handful of compilations Cliff Richard's Chart Hits evolve from his hundred plus hits. As it happens 50 have been chosen for this 2CD compilation highlighting a remarkable 50 year span Career! AND this compilation is no exception to former 'Greatest Hits' from yester years. The music on this double CD is just sheer classic hits, they just keep on coming! I am also a keen 'music' listener to the ears and the CD sound quality on this CD is a major let down, because many of Cliff's classics have all been recorded in stereo (Listen to 40 Golden Greats 2CD) but here they are in mono!! why? can scarcely believe that with so many tracks 2 of my favourites are not there : I'm looking out the window ( isn't no 2 a big enough hit?), and Ocean Deep ( a regular fans favourite ). I could go on, but those 2 struck me immediately. I will save my £100!The 78 is a gimmick too....

My Mum introduced me to Cliff whilst I was still in the womb and since then I have grown up with wonderful memories of Christmas and Wimbledon. This collection is probably the pinnacle of his career, expounding on his singing talents and soul abilities. Despite being in a wheelchair you can really dance to this one. Ian

Whatever your thoughts on Cliff Richard, you can't deny that he knew a good song when he heard it and turned it into a piece of pop history. The number of different styles registered in this superb selection is amazing. The infectious groove of "Move it", the heart breaking "Visions", the finger clicking "Do you want to dance", The sheer pop of "Throw down a line" right through to the insanely addictive "I could easily fall in love with you"................have I left anything out? Oh! About another 35 top tracks! There are so many top tunes here that, like the Beatles, you tend to forget the sheer quality and quantity of his output. I've lived, somewhat reluctantly, with Cliff since I was a kid. My mum was a fan and my Auntie and my Nan so there was no way to avoid the Peter Pan of pop and his vibrato filled vocals in our house. So listening to this double album is a real trip down memory lane and it's a great memory. Songs like Wired for Sound, My kind of life and Devil Woman are real floor fillers and the later ballads The best of me and I still believe in you have the makings of classics in years to come. What startled me was that Cliff had so many wonderful songs and most of them are here on this album. I cannot think of a more boring & uninteresting collection of songs that would have a larger snooze factor than this one.

I have found this to be a very good collection but I found that several hits from the original record have been ommitted which is a shame as they were good tracks!

I think the title ive chosen to head my review says it all.Xanadu the album(ELOs contributions only)is more of what we've come to expect from the greatest band of all time.The other songs on the album vary in quality between not bad and down right awful.DO NOT!!!! buy this album then think to yourself"He's full of it,these songs are great,im buying the film"cos this atitude will only leave you however many pounds,dollars whatever lighter in the pocket and have taken up 90 minutes of you.re life you'll never get back.so In conclusion get the album,dont follow this up by seeing the movie.

It is clear from reading other reviews on Amazon and elsewhere that people have mixed feelings about this collection. Some would have an album of entirely new recordings (and maybe more original songs and fewer covers) while others would have preferred an album comprising entirely re-issues. Perhaps it was decided that this compromise would suit everybody. Certainly, I'd been expecting a compilation of Cliff's duet hits ever since the release of his 6-CD boxed set (Singles collection), which contained every British solo single that Cliff had recorded up to that point, but noticeably avoided all the duets. Cliff was someone we all grew up with during the 50`s & 60`s. It was not a cool thing to like Cliff during the following decades. I remember during the mid 70`s when he had a rich vein of success in particular ` I can`t ask for anymore than you` & Devil woman, both featured on this fine album. I have never bought a Cliff c.d before but I am sure this is his one of all time which would surely please his biggest fans and the critics alike. Every track is outstanding.
