Music : Fresh Cream
It is rather ironic that Cream stands out in the history of music as the first great power trio in rock 'n' roll. First, because some of the other great power trios are not always considered as such because they have a vocalist (to wit, the Who and Led Zeppelin). Second, because the band was composed of like-minded muisicans who really wanted to play the blues rather than rock. Third, because while on the one hand they approached music with the sensibilities of jazz musicians, interested in improvisation whenever possible, their performances sometimes went from showmanship to indulgence. But any group that has Eric Clapton on guitar and gives him free reign is going to have its place in music history.

Music : Alternative Album 1966
A CD with eleven tracks, all of which are Cream studio or rehearsal out-takes of early version of the songs. Far more than there are on the 'Those Were The Days' box set, these are just as interesting. Not even knowing it existed and therefore unable to hunt it down on Amazon, I found this in a record shop some years ago and, Cream fan as I am just had to have it. The whole thing is just less then 30 minutes long, but if you're a Cream buff / completist then it'll be a must-have[...]

was amazed at the transfer quality as earlier works sound tinny. I forgot how divers Cream is. It is as if they were experimenting with different types of songs. This is better than having variations of the same thing across the whole CD. It did not take me long to fall in love with the individual songs again. Everyone is familiar with "White Room" which is what made me think of this first but few remember "Pressed Rat and Warthog" or "Those Were the Days".
Bottom line the album is worth discovering or rediscovering.
