This soundtrack is the most hauntingly beautiful music that could accompany an excellent adaption of Phillipia Pearce's outstanding book and now movie adaption. It is not only beautiful , one can also feel the eerieness and mystery as the music seems to engulf you as you sit and with eagerness find yourself watching and listening to this timeless movie The music is romantic,also and this movie's plot is definately a blend of romance (a special kind), Mystery, and adventure. Debbie Wiseman produced one of the loveliest film scores of the last few years with her music for the film "Wilde" (starring Stephen Fry), so it only seems natural that she should turn to these, two of Oscar Wilde's most poignant and affecting fairy tales. Her music is sensitively scored, featuring delicate musical word-painting, performed by some first-rate soloists and the ASMF under Marriner. This is a great soundtrack to a great film. I loved the movie and its music so I knew this was a must buy for me. Its amazing how cheap you can pick this up for as the music is amazing and my all time fave soundtrack. Enjoyed In the City at the credits of the movie? Couldnt stop humming that intro tune as The Warriors made their way across the city in the train? Always feel like dancing to Love is a Fire? If so then pick this up and enjoy the excellent music from the great film.

I have just been to see Debbie Wiseman conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall, London so thought I'd buy this album as a momento. Hadn't come across her music before so wasn't too sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. I particularly enjoyed 'Wilde West', 'Judge John Deed' and 'My Uncle Silas'. In truth all the tracks are good but some are a little better than others but that shouldn't detract from the overall pleasure of hearing the music as it was intended to be heard from one of our best film composers. By the way it played fine on my PC using Windows Media Player so not sure what the previous reviewer was on about.... maybe his PC was at fault
