Want to get away from the frenetic "Eric is God" entrapment????? Then join Delaney & Bonnies backing band, which is what Clapton did in this Southern Rock/Soul good time rocking band. This really has stood the test of time really well and considering the time it was recorded (1971 I think) its really unindulgent.Delaney Bramlett was an old friend of Duanne Allman so I think thats how they wee aquainted through Derek & the Dominoes. Great to listen to in the car!

The then husband-wife team of Delaney (vocals, guitar) & Bonnie (vocals, tambourine) were in the thick of rock history in 1969-71 and this collection brings together all their best . The gospel-soul-rock mould they fashioned attracted the cream of British rock: John Lennon, Eric Clapton and Dave Mason. The last two are featured here on the 4 best tracks from the famous On tour with Eric Clapton album (tracks 7-10). Though chronological order would have been better (the small group recordings are sandwiched in between big band ones), this is a good selection of Delaney's output for Nixa/Pye and cleanly presented. The first ten tracks are by his 1950s big band. Big band? There are only twelve musicians but they could really blow and you hardly notice there are no trombones. The four interpretations of TV jingles of the period which follow are interesting and will jog a few memories of those of a certain age! The band on these is a bigger one and is obviously composed of session men.
