Pete and Dud, sometime in the early seventies, mutated into Derek and Clive, a pair of Tory-voting, heavy-drinking, football-loving toilet attendants who have an opinion on everything, think the world's gone mad and are deeply embarrassed by women. For Derek and Clive, everything went downhill after the death of Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. And it's this peculiarly British mindset - a combination of drunken menace and a willingness to talk utter nonsense for several minutes at the drop of a hat - that the two erstwhile satirists tap into over the course of the three Derek and Clive albums. Well, whilst I don't think this is the best of the three recordings made of Derek & Clive, it still deserves five stars. It also contains the best sketch, The Critics!! As everyone else has said, this isn't for the faint hearted. It's vile at time, cringeworthy, totally un-pc and such a refreshing change from todays stadium comedians. Not to be listened to within earshot of anyone with heart condition as they either have a heart attack from the content or die laughing. Not for kids, conservatives, prudes or you nan. Nonetheless, Derek & Clive are pure punk comedy gold. God rest their soles and our soles!!

To listen to these classic shows is an expieriance I urge everyone to do, thay are an absolute joy, every golden word dilivered exquisitly by the comic genius Tony Handcock.

Best to leave aside Pete and Dud's relationship at this point and refer to Derek and Clive as a work in its own right... this is not for the faint hearted! A mixture of drunken ramblings, emotionally charged outbursts and some very twisted minds, this is the Peter Cook diatribe show which is ingenious at times, very disturbing at others!
