Has much has i Like Dolly Parton, I do wonder how many more times are her managers going to release her Greatest Hits & Best Of Albums.
I think she should come back and do something New!!

I brought Dolly Partons Greatest Hits back in 1999 The Album i have is a 2x Disc version With the same songs and same listings in the exact same track listing order has these 2 seperate Albums!! Why it has been Re-released has two seperate Volumes is beyond me, Especially when the version i have is still avalible to buy.

I have given this a 4 Star if it was a New greatest hits it would have got a 5 Star, However it isn't. And plus it's not Dolly's thought i blame the record company!!! :-)

This CD is fantastic - a return to form for the First Lady of Country music. From the opening track, the lyrics and music flow easily, and are all likeable, 'catchy' and heartfelt.

Ofcourse they are stand out tracks - the first single, 'Better Get To Living' but also the wonderfully up-lifting 'Jesus & Gravity' and the great 'Shinola' (a track where Dolly gets mad and even!). Plus an amazingly original cover version of 'She Drives Me Crazy', where Dolly add's her own touch of 'crazy'!

Most of the tracks tell a story and so many, it seems, come - possibly - from Dolly's own life experience's, especially the title-track 'Backwoods Barbie'. And top marks have to be given for the art-work of the album - Dolly looks 'the part'. ... Read More:

To anybody who already owns a compilation of Dolly's music for RCA, the track listing here has a familiar look to it with few exceptions. The exceptions are Please don't stop loving me, a sensational duet with Porter Wagoner not normally included on Dolly's solo compilations, To know him is to love him, from the first Trio album, and Why'd you come in here looking like that, from Dolly's period with Columbia. This UK edition includes a bonus track – a remix of Early morning breeze, a song that originally appeared on Dolly's Coat of many colors album (1971) and later on her Jolene album (1974).

The other tracks here include many Dolly classics, notably Jolene (her only UK top ten solo hit), Islands in the stream (a duet with Kenny Rogers that became ... Read More:

Music : Once upon a Christmas
One of the Best Christmas Albums of all-time. I have the C.D ,and the video, and the cassette. I play them every xmas and it just gets better. Dolly wrote most of the Carols and they are as good as the old classics. Great songs ,well sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Very seasonal . Love it!!!

Music : Home for Christmas
Any initial disappointment I felt when I discovered that this album was filled was standards didn't last long. The songs have all been covered many times before – some more than others, though Dolly was careful not to repeat any of the songs that appeared on her first Christmas offering, Once upon a Christmas, which she recorded with Kenny Rogers.

Dolly's exuberant personality makes itself evident on such joyous songs as Jingle bells, which never sounded so much fun. I really want to jingle thos bells when I hear Dolly sing that song. With a country church congregation on First Noel and Joy to the world, and a children's chorus on Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and Santa Claus is coming to town, Dolly brings many elements to this Christmas album. Great song choices here though perhaps only 'Telling Me Lies' sounds out of place. What really sells this album is the sheer joy you feel at the harmonies. I'm not a big fan of the singers so have no agenda here, but they sound fantastic together. Stand out tracks include 'I've Had Enough', 'Those Memories' and and the aching 'My Dear Companion'

The first thing to say about this collection is that although some of Dolly's hits are here, a lot of them are missing including Jolene, 9 to 5, Here you come again, Coat of many colors, Two doors down, Joshua, Bargain store, The seeker, Old flames and You're the only one (to name a few). This is not, and was never meant to be, a hits collection. Plenty of those are already available. I'm sure that a lot of fans would have been happy for this collection to completely avoid the obvious classics (I know that I would) but I guess that commercial reality necessitated the inclusion of some of them.

At the other end of the spectrum, nine tracks (Bubbling over, Love with me, Because I love you, Most of all why, Robert, Chas, I'm doing this for your sake, Take me back, Blackie Kentucky) ... Read More:

In 1979 Dolly Parton released Great Balls Of Fire which completed her amazing transformation from country girl to disco diva! From the first track Star Of The Show it was a clear indication that Dolly was ready to party with the best of them. Although being a departure from her classic country albums Dolly was one of the very few performers who was able to crossover to mainstream pop without losing any of her traditional charms that had made her a star to begin with. The album, released here on cd for the very first time, contains some hidden gems such as Dolly's own country version of Help written by the legendary Beatles and the rousing title track first made famous by Jerry Lee Lewis. Also included are some beautiful self penned love songs such as Do You Think That Time Stands Still and Sandy's ... Read More:
