After hearing the fantastic hit Mercy I took no hesitation in buying the album as soon as it was released, and I had no regrets in doing so. Every track is brilliant, Duffy's voice is beautiful and how refreshing it is to find someone genuinely talented who hasn't needed any reality TV (e.g. The X Factor or Britain's Got Talent) to prove herself. With two Top 3 singles, one of which going to #1 of course, and a superb debut album that hasn't left the Top 5 Album charts since it was released, I think we can be certain that this lovely Welsh girl is going to be a big star, and is gonna be around for a good few years yet. Well done Duffy, I'm already looking forward to the second album.

I've listened to this drivel - the record and all the hyped-up reviews of Duffy - and finally I've had enough. It's rubbish. 'You got me beggin', you got me beggin', you got me beggin' ad nauseum. Even dance songs can have good lyrics, it has happened. And enough already of these affected warbling or bellowing, sinus-afflicted girls (Adele's another...) I'm not hearing anything great here. And as for the Dusty comparisons, just just insulting to Dusty's versatility and emotional/vocal dynamic range. For god's sake, Duffy is plain Duff.

Duffy truly is 2008's shining star. Of all the new acts that appear each year there is always one that completely captures that hearts of the nation and whose songs dominate the radio with their brilliance. 2008 is without a doubt Duffy's year. With her debut album still riding high in the top 10 of the UK album chart months after its initial release we now get treated to Warwick Avenue, the brilliant second major single from the rcord (third if you count the title track getting its minor release last year).

I think i actually like Warwick Avenue even more than Mercy. Whereas Mercy was a unshamedly get-up-and-dance pop record with an incredibly instant hook, Warwick Avenue retains that same pop sensibility ... Read More:

How adorable is Duffy? I first saw her performing on Jools Holland's TV show and was completely won over by her performance. She has an amazing voice and judging from the amazing Rockferry and current single Mercy, her album is going to be awesome. Loving the arkwork on this single too.

Rockferry is a big slice of retro soul ballad, it sounds like it could be right out of the 60s while at the same time coming across effortless modern. Epic in its grandeur, a beautifully moving song.

Oh Boy is very different from the a-side, it's yet another platform for Duffy to show off her incredible vocals. A sweet little number with just her and an acoustic guitar, this reminds me of the Sugababes song 'New Year'.

So, Mercy has already been number 1 for two weeks just on downloads and this physical release looks set to boost its success even further. Duffy looks gorgeous on the cover and the song itself is pure brilliance, a departure from the ballad Rockferry, Mercy is an uptempo gem of a track. Based around a 'Stand By Me' esque beat and an ace organ riff, like Rockferry, this is the perfect blend of the old and new - and Duffy delivers it perfectly, proof of her ingenuity and talent as an artist.

That chorus of 'You got me beggin' for mercy' is just so catchy and the 'yeah, yeah, yeah' parts are dead cute - the song's got everything and as if you didn't need anymore persuading, it's a perfect taster for an album which looks ... Read More:
