If you were born in the late 1940's to early 1950's then you will be more than familiar with Dusty Springfield. She was on TV more than most, (and we only had 3 channels), and out of the 21 tracks on here virtually every one of them was a single. It's one of those great CD's where, even if you have a lousy voice, you put it on and find yourself singing along. Dusty may have been more for Mum's and Dad's at the time, but growing up when her hits were around, I find I enjoy this album more now than ever before. Nostalgia. That's what it is. And Dusty's unique voice is better than any around today!

In my opinion this is the first time a collection has been released on Dusty that truly covers her career properly. I may be biased! All of the US and UK hits from the sixties in their original Mono mixes as well as a healthy dose of her Atlantic soul period with all the comeback hits at the end. This is the one to get whether your new to Dusty or even if you think you have everything. No fan should be without this one.

I originally bought this because I thought I quite like her and will be spending a week with my mum and sister soon so I can play it in the car and no-one will complain but lo and behold it's one of the BEST CD's I've ever purchased, my only beef being that the 80's stuff could have been left off in favour of a few more of her earlier material. Haven't heard a Dusty tune in years but remembered all the words from when my mum played them over and over as I was growing up. She was truly a legend and the music is still CLASSIC.

Via the Springfields Dusty was one of a select few who made the American top 20 before the British Invasion-this was Silver threads & Golden Needles. As a result she did a Helen Shapiro and went to Nashville for the new album. For 5 minutes Dusty became a singer songwriter with 4 B sides-not bad songs especially Go Ahead On.She then concentrated on what she did best-cover versions. In fact when Dusty covered Every ounce of strength the original Carla Thomas version was not even on release here. I'll love you for a while-the original Jill Jackson version flopped in the States so never came out here. After Dusty in Memphis, this is probably the best Dusty 'album' - as distinct from the best 'compilation' - you can get. The selection of material is first class, the bonus tracks are welcome and the remastered sound leaves my old Philips LP for dead. As usual for that time, Dusty's voice is in top form and the instrumental backing is consistently good. Best track is probably Randy Newman's 'I Think it's Gonna Rain Today'. Highly recommended.

Dusty effortlessly goes from Tamla, soul, cabaret classics to folk and Broadway show standards to power ballads all in single live takes. Often she keeps her soul preference to the last song which goes over the end credits. She plays acoustic guitar and sings folk songs like 'My Lagan Love' (Lagan Love links her to Kate Bush as the Springfields' 'Silver Threads and Golden Needles' links her to Linda Ronstadt - she referenced both of these artists in her 1979 concerts). This compilation brings together Dusty's fantastic talent; it explores all of Dusty's vocal range through careful selection of tracks and does great justice to her memory. She may have been big in the 60's and 70's but this collection will ensure that her great vocal talent is never forgotten.

I haven't heard this CD yet, but I do have the DVD, which has just been released in Malaysia. However, how can the CD be called "complete", when there are far less tracks than on the DVD? Surely a double or triple CD would have been appropriate.
