This album is, despite only being a year old, classic Eagles, and one of their best. It was worth the wait, as although it's polished and sounds perfect, it is full of raw, real emotions, and every line is delivered with that feeling as a driving force. I was also impressed they kept the momentum going with two discs, 21 tracks in fact, of consistently beautiful music, each song speaking directly to me as a listener and making me believe everything they're singing. This is also a brilliant showcase of the different genres covered, from pure heartbreak as we can hear in I Don't Want To Hear Any More, to catchy, commercial almost pop sounds in How Long, to folkier music in No More Walks In The Wood, and a few others in ... This is Fantastic. At first, as an Eagles Of Death Metal fan, I was impressed. Then I wasnt sure. Now I am. This album is superb, it moves things on nicely. The last two albums are great, but this is SERIOUS stuff. Jesse's vocals have moved on a stage or two, and are really being put to use. They are raw, and quite powerfull compared with previouse albums. He is very good! Perfect compliment to the catchy tunes that you might well be familliar with as a current fan. I could go on and on, but really, you should just buy this. If you dont like it you can blame me. For me, this is the best release of the year, and possibly longer.

The song was "Hotel California," and my perception of music changed then and there, once and for all. I would be tempted to describe this album as a 'lost classic' since it started as a minor independent release by two college roommates in 2003 and has steadily developed a cult following. People will continue to look back to this album while one half of Department of Eagles, Dan Rossen, continues to garner acclaim for his wholly different latterday project Grizzly Bear (who release ghostly, psychedelic folk on Warp). The Cold Nose is one of several guises and monikers for this record which was also released as 'Whitey on the Moon UK', the name of the band before they were forced to change it owing to copyright infringement. Well, yes, it's fantastic of course. How could it not be with so many great songs, which still get played every day on radio stations the world over? I do have reservations, though. The Eagles have released more compilation albums than studio albums, and I don't think any other band has a greater ratio... it's quite bizarre if you tot up their collections and count them against the 6 full studio albums. My main problem here is that there are such a high proportion of songs from their last albums: Hotel California, and The Long Run. One could argue that this is because those two albums were the biggest sellers at the time of release (well, Hotel California obviously was, perhaps One Of These Nights sold as well as The Long Run, I'm not sure). ... Having purchased this item myself and with two 'Universal Players' capable of playing surround DVD-Audio (and SACD), I can confirm that unfortunately this item is just DTS Surround and does NOT contain DVD-Audio. I say this because a DVD-Audio option does not appear when the disc is loaded into a DVD-Audio player, nor is there any mention of DVD-Audio in the accompanying packaging with the disc. A shame, because the Surround Sound is good even with DTS (but is likely to have been even better with the higher bit and sampling rate of DVD-Audio). Therefore just 3 stars, because the sound won't be any better than the DVD (with DTS), which also includes the video of the concert.

its hip, its fun, its got josh homme on the drumbs, what more could you ask for. i was sceptical about about this album before i bought it. i thought it might not be that good, or worse that eagles of death metal would replace QOTSA, but they wont. its differnet but just as gooooood.
