I have the first album and as a lot of people have said the Joy Division sounds are there at the first listen but frankly once you listen to the Editors a bit more it becomes difficult to see any likeness. This second album is a bit more melodic than the first but im amazed how it has grown on me. Frankly once I really got into it the darkness you hear at first lifts. This album is emotional - not dark or depressing - and I love it for that. Nothing like Joy Division who I am a fan of but can only take in small doses. If you are open minded (and yes the lyrics are pretty simple) then this album is worth a shot. Give it time.

Having heard of editors but not knowing much about them i embarked upon eurockeennes de belfort festival 2007, midday on the second day and on came Editors, the set started well and i was instantly impressed with the quality of the live performances, as the set continued i felt being drawn into their sound and by the end i was impressed enough to order this album as soon as i got home. Also, another thing that impressed me was the fact that the lead singer came into the crowd with the public after their set to watch queens of the stoneage. The album is very good with some instant hooks and some songs that gradually grow on you, the sound is very unique for the time and although i can see similarities to JD i think it is unfair to labour them with ... Actually heard this from a distance on the radio and thought it sounded pretty good. But then I heard the lyrics, what utter twaddle, grow up. Very sheltered life if that's the saddest thing you ever saw, I don't quite understand what's sad about it, oh dear what ever happened to rebellion.

My single of 2007 is this lovely song from Editors.For anyone who has had experience of bereavement,this song will strike a great chord.It is a personal tribute to Tom Smith's grandmother,who passed away this year,and he has written an emotional and fitting song here.

Although about roughly eighty to ninety percent of my music collection is heavy metal/rock (I have said it before, I am no music elitist snob), I will always like the odd indie/alternative rock band here and there, Editors are definitely one of those bands. Since I bought this on its release I haven't been able to stop listening to it and it has got better with each listen (although it is almost always this way with me), there is not one bad track on this and not one album filler, trust me when I say this is not one of those first half excellent and second half album fillers type, this is in my opinion indie/alternative rock at its very best.
