I Love Christmas Music & have been collecting various albums on this theme for years & this album has got to be one of the most sentimental & warming albums ever produced on this theme. The album I had was on Tape & has long since worn out but I've since been trying to replace it. If you get the chance to get hold of this album I strongly recommend that you do so.

Elaine is great! The music is great! It's not her fault, but...how many more compilations can there be? I guess the record company can delete one tune here, add one there, change the sequence, maybe have one big box (I'd like that)...come on. Are there outtakes from any of her albums, alternate versions, singles...the Sitting Pretty isn't on CD yet...RECORD COMPANIES, THIS IS WHAT WE WANT! Thank you!!

This is a really good album with lots of really good songs. Most of them older, since the album first came out in the 80's. Elaine Pages voice is spectacular and this is a complete collection of her early, good stages.

Yes this is a compilation of songs that EP has released before, but for me it contains a collection of my favourites all on one CD. Check the price it is not exorbitant. Buy it and enjoy!!

At first glance I did not get too excited at the track listing of this new recording. It seemed mainly to be songs that have been recorded a hundred times before, and it almost seemed that I must have old CDs with Elaine Paige singing the same songs. Well, I was wrong. These are all new recordings with Elaine in fine voice.The arrangements are fresh and modern while paying respect to the originals. It really brings musical theatre to the 21st century. If like me you have some doubts, dont hesitate.......buy this cd!.

Britain's finest theatrical singer-actress (with a similar type of voice to Barbra Streisand) originally became famous as the leading actress in the West End musical, Evita. Her singing career didn't really get established until the release of her 1983 album, Stages, but while I regard that as her best original album, this one (from a year earlier) has much to commend it. Tim Rice wrote many of the lyrics, even adding an extra verse to If you don't want my love, written by John Prine. John was impressed by Elaine's recording (so am I) but not by Tim messing around with his song, although I like the extra verse. Tim also wrote lyrics for the Paul McCartney instrumental, Hot as sun. Elaine established herself long ago as Britain's finest theatrical singer. This compilation features several new recordings while bringing together the best of her earlier music from the seventies, eighties and nineties. Comparisons with Barbra Streisand are inevitable as they are both singer-actresses with similar types of voice (though you wouldn't mistake one for the other) and they've recorded each other's songs (Barbra has recorded Memory while Elaine has recorded The way we were, though it's not here) ad there are a few other songs that they've both recorded.
