Sorry to say I had never even heard of Elbow until I caught them on TV at this years Glastonbury. Liked what I heard and bought the album (before they won the Mercury prize I hasten to add) Was completely blown away by it. Have since invested in their back catalogue which have been equally impressive. All are highly recommended It has certainly restored my interest in music .

What a great album! By far and away their best, before they succumbed to Coldplay-type anthems on Seldom Seen Kid. Every track a winner, but "Very best" is well titled. Enjoy! Anyone that can get Stockport Supporters Club into the lyrics of a ballad is alright by me!!

Elbow have written and performed some of the best music this century (IMO). Beautiful ballads & catchy tunes, Favourite Tracks: Fugitive Motel & Grace Under Pressure

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

Discovered ELBOW a few months ago. What have I been doing !! What a fantastic sound and mind blowing lyrics. Thanks Guy for your great work. Looking forward to seeing band live in Manchester. I may be approaching 60 fast but it is never too late to appreciate such great music.

Guy Garvey's brittle vocals mix superbly with the delicately poised and intricately constructed musical arrangements to give us another corker from one of the best new bands of the year by a mile. 'Powder Blue' is typical of this bands seemingly natural balance between the vocals and the instrumentals. The vocalist seems to fit into the music, almost disappear into the music, and vice versa. This band are so finely tuned that if you were to remove just one piece from the jigsaw, there would be an obvious gap in the music and the whole picture would fall apart.

This band has been around longer than you might think. They know what sound they want to make, and finally it looks as if a bigger audience will get the chance to listen. The reviews tend to say "buy this!" and for once they really are doing you a favour. The main track on the single is luxuriously orchestrated, and Guy Garvey's vocal soars over the sweet melody, occasionally dropping to a nice near-conversational downbeat. The accoustic versions of two earlier songs aren't fillers, they are simply great, letting you appreciate elbow's trademark style, lilting and edgy.
