Why Is He Famous?
He's a Grammy and Oscar-winning icon, who in the span of three decades gave us such classics as "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer" and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," among many others. Then of course, there are his notorious spending habits.

Elton John's ,Woman Magnetism`
He may be gay, but that doesn't mean women don't appreciate what he has to offer.

Elton John deserves a high ranking in this area because he can communicate to women in ways most men can only dream. Common among many adult contemporary artists, Elton's ballads have the ability to melt women's hearts, a gift that goes

GYBR is usually referred to as a classic album and routinely appears on "Greatest Albums Of All Time" lists. The truth is, it is a terrible album that happens to contain a few classic `70s Pop tunes - namely, the title track, "Candle In The Wind", "Harmony" and "Roy Rogers". There are a couple of half-decent album fillers - the melodic "Sweet Painted Lady" and the rather overblown "I've Seen That Movie Too" - but the rest of the album is abysmal: the falsetto caterwauling of "Bennie And The Jets", the annoying lilt of "Danny Bailey", the horrid `50s pastiche of "Your Sister Can't Twist". Some of the other tracks are actually rather unpleasant and leave a bad taste in the mouth. What is more, the album is very poorly produced. A case in point is "Saturday ... Read More:

Music : The Very Best of Elton John
Surely, Elton needs no introduction, as he was hugely popular around the world. During the period covered by this compilation, he only had two number one hits in Britain although he had several in America during the same period. Since then, he has had at least four further UK number one hits. So while many people consider the seventies and eighties to be Elton's golden years, he has demonstrated that he is not finished yet.

Even in 1990, Elton had too many great songs to fit on a double CD, the most notable omissions from this one being Tiny dancer, Island girl and Little Jeannie. His more recent compilation covering his career up to 2002 was issued with slightly different track listins in the UK and USA included some of these songs (which ones depend ... Read More:

Probably one of my favourite Elton John albums, favourite tracks We All Fall in Love Sometimes/Curtains, Better Off Dead and Writing. Just one point to the original reviewer, the last three tracks were not on the original album, I have it in vinyl, bought on it's release date and it finishes with Curtains, IMO where it should. These have obviously been added to plump it out at a much later date. I can understand why however because during that time period Lucy and Philadelphia Freedom were only available on a Greatest Hits. I find this album also quite sad as it was the last one before the parting of the ways with Nigel Olsenn and Dee Murray, although of course they came back again much later. I remember going to see the Louder Than Concorde tour at Earl's Court shortly ... Read More:

This was Elton John's third LP and stakes a good claim to being his very best. It certainly represents his peak as an albums artist, being a concept album with no singles. The songs are mostly based around themes of the American West, an obsession of lyricist Bernie Taupin at the time, and Elton rose to the occasion with a consistently strong collection of tunes with a predominantly country flavour, citing The Band as a major influence. The American inflections he has always brought to his vocal style have never sounded more convincing or appropriate, and arranger Paul Buckmaster again comes up trumps with sympathetic settings for the songs. The strings are used more sparingly than on Elton's eponymous previous album, with brass more to the fore this time round, although ... Read More:

As a lover of guitar rock, I never thought much of Elton's up-tempo numbers apart from the timeless classic "Crocodile rock" (included here) and the faster tracks on this album don't do anything to alter that opinion. EJ was always better on the slower numbers and the standout tracks (apart from "Rock") are "Daniel", "High flying bird" (Lovely harmonies) and my personal fave, "Texan love song"(great lyrics from Bernie Taupin). "Blues for baby and me" suffers from repetition of a too-long chorus while "Pity the poor criminal" is overblown and melodramatic. Not Elton's best.

The best greatest hits collection so far from the best piano player in pop...and worth buying for the classic "Dont Go Breaking My Heart".

When this album first came out two of my friends bought it and played it constantly and I remember thinking it was good at the time.I recently watched a programme about Elton John on the TV and a snatch of a track from Tumbleweed Connection came on.For old times sake I bought a copy expecting to enjoy it as I had all those years ago.The sad fact is that it has not aged well and I now think the album is awful.Everything about it is bad.The lyrics,Eltons singing and the musicianship are all dire. After years of listening to real American music this attempt to beat them at their own game fails miserably.I would not recommend this album to anyone.

The singles Honky cat and the awesome rocket man are just two of the stand out tracks on this very good early Elton John album.
I would recommend this album to any genuine Elton fans particualy fans of the albums Tumbleweed connection and madman accross the water. Very good indeed.

This was the album where Elton John found his voice. Gone were the psychedelic leanings and world-weary vocal stylings of failed debut 'Empty Sky', to be replaced by a dark romanticism with which the cover photo of Elton peering moodily out of the shadows was perfectly in keeping. Crucial to the success of Elton's 70s work was his teaming up with producer Gus Dudgeon and arranger Paul Buckmaster who had already proved their artistic and commercial chops on David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' single. Considering its eventual ubiquity it's incredible to think that opening track 'Your Song' wasn't originally considered for single release, only becoming Elton's first chart hit the following year, by which time he had already released his next album. On songs such as the delicate `I Need You To Turn To', the romantic ... Read More:
