My first experience of Leslie Feist was the excellent 7/4 Shoreline with the Broken Social Scene collective - a storming avant-garde Canadian new wave classic. So this album was a surprise. Everyone has seen the classic Ipod commercial however that quality of all of the tracks here was astounding. It's obviously her beautiful voice which is most captivating - it is as pure and smooth as cream and it makes even the most mellow 'close-up' Brazilian samba crooner sound raw. It is soothing and serene and is truly beguiling. It is simply beautiful. The obvious hit is her reworking of Inside and Out - the minor hit for the Bee Gees - and she brings out the sheer quality of the songwriting. And she does the same for her own material which is always ... Read More:

This CD mops up some of Feist's collaborations and a smattering of remixes of tracks from her superb album "Let It Die". There's some nice stuff here but the casual fan could certainly live without this. The first two tracks - a solo piano version of "One Evening" by Gonzales and a stripped down acoustic cover of the Bee Gees' "Inside & Out" from a BBC session - are gorgeous. A pity the latter is spoiled by peak-level distortion; the BBC engineer should have been shot.

I heard Feist on a British TV advert and HAD to find out who was playing the music track! After some detective work I found this amazing CD. I endorse everything that the others here have said, but would add that this is one of the rare sounds that makes me want to cry with joy.
Listen to it and you will want to buy it!
I can't believe it was released in '04 and I've only just found out about it.

You may not know it by name, but you've probably already heard Leslie Feist's "1234," in that iPod commercial that runs about a hundred times a day. It's certainly one of the more winsome pop tunes from Feist's second album "Reminder," and the one that seemed to cling to her folky-pop roots. It's a bittersweet little love song, but played with colourful, innocent exuberance.

"One, two, three four/tell me that you love me more/sleepless, long nights/that was what my youth was for," Feist croons over an acoustic guitar. But with "oh, teenage hopes are lying at your door" it blooms into a sprightly pop confection, which manages to be just a wee bit symphonic, and very catchy.

It's an unabashedly sprightly little song flavoured with some bittersweet ... Read More:
