This CD release is a little cheeky, as the Very Best of Gypsy Kings was released about seven years ago, which had all of these tracks on and a number of more, separated on to two discs: one with the dancey stuff and the other with their romantic tracks, (it's probably cheaper too!). Anyhow, apart from this minor detail, regardless of what CD you choose, it will provide you with hours of fun and/or relaxation. So make yourself some sangria and put on Bamboleo, or run a bath and play Mi Manera. Whichever way you choose, this CD is a top buy.

La rumba flamenca llevada a su maxima expresion por este brillantisimo grupo de franceses que canta un español muy peculiar; desde rumbas picantes como DJOBI DJOBA, BEM BEM MARIA y BAMBOLEO hasta baladas preciosas como TU QUIERES VOLVER y QUIERO SABER; incluye instrumentales ricas en armonias como MOOREA e INSPIRACION y un clasico como A MI MANERA (MY WAY); este disco fue precisamente el DEBUT de los reyes gitanos (Y QUE DEBUT, BARBARO!!), un disco que merece ser parte de toda coleccion.

This collection of Gipsy Kings favourites feels over-produced and quite cheezy really - the terrific energy and passion is missing somehow. There are a lot of extra and rather nice tracks, it has to be said, but i was disappointed at not getting the best versions of my favourite tunes.

This album isn't as raw and airy as some of other Gipsy King offerings, but that really isn't a negative in any way. I found most of the tracks on this album very easy to listen to, although a few of the tracks caught me off guard a bit, especially the reggae track, Escucha Me, which is an interesting addition - it has a bit of a UB40 feel to it. The first track, Pedir A Tu Corazon, which I believe translates as "Ask your heart", is a passionate song, about (I think) unrequited love. I liked it anyway. I also enjoyed Montaña, which is classic Gipsy Kings stuff, and seriously uplifting. Love & Liberté is a wonderful instrumental track, and a chance to listen to those Gipsy guitars; fantastic!
