I remember a former university housemate back in 2003 getting really excited about the then impending release of Goldfrapp's second album, Black Cherry. I'd never heard of them, not being a particularly large fan of so-called "chill-out" music... a term that had been used in connection with their first album, Felt Mountain, in almost every single related review. So, it was only after I saw the video for the first single from Black Cherry, Train, that I suddenly became interested in the alluring Ms. Goldfrapp and her musical partner, Will Gregory.

Black Cherry was a great album... managing to juggle the lulled ambience of songs like Deep Honey, Hairy Trees and that beautiful title track, alongside the more abrasive, glam-inspired ... Read More:

Goldfrapp are of the same creed as groups such as Lemon Jelly, Zero 7 and Portishead, offering up what is the arguably more intelligent side to modern dance music. New single 'Train' sees movement away from their earlier slightly more chilled-out, experimental works, while still remaining impressively innovative - dirty electronic bass lines drive the song forward while the relatively mellow, sensual vocals provide a good contrast. Very glam, very sexy, defiantly not your ordinary type of dance music, but defiantly the type that makes you want to move.

Note that this DVD does NOT contain the strict machine video! I was very disappointed. This item is really for Goldfrapp completists, who would like another Strict Machine remix and two live songs (one of which is a video of a live performance of Lovely Head).

i know alot of people complain about this song being slow etc.. , but it charted in november , a time for slower singles, and i think it was released at the right time of year. but yes, maybe a bit slow for any other time of year

this song in my opinion is one of the best on supernature and one of goldfrapps best songs ever, very cold and clinical, just like the video. it also has 80's influences , like the beat and the electronic sound

just a fact: it peaked at number 9 on the Uk singles chart in early november 2005, goldfrapps second highest singles chart entery to date!

Fly Me Away is the forth single of Goldfrapp's stunning platinum selling third album, Supernature!
This one is a bit different to the glam roack tunes of Ooh La La and Ride A White Horse. Instead it's more in the same vein as Number One-a lush, warm pop song.
Alison's soft, whispery vocals drift along a dreamy soundscape of synths and electronic beats, coupled with simple but uplifting vocals. The single mix of the track is relatively similar to the album version. There are extra sounds added here and there and the track is shorter. Still worth a listen though. The artwork is amazing too-very dark compared to the song, which is a great contrast!
To sum up, Fly Me Away is one of the standout tracks on Supernature and it was only ... Read More:

This was goldfrapps first album! its very chill out and though samey in tempo is hauntingly fantasic and leaves you wanting more!its very diffrent to most albums you hear and should have been given more credit than it got..if you expect this to be like goldfrapp of the pop charts...well you will be dissapointed because it a very mature sound not a chart one like they now are..

Well, I didn't see this coming. After the glitzy club sound of their last album "Supernature," Goldfrapp has gone to the other extreme -- floaty, instrumental pop.

And nowhere is this more evident than in the "A&E" single, which brings together two of the most addictive, alluring songs in this new style. One is a gorgeous, addictive little pop song, and the other an ethereal little ballad full of achy heartbreak and dull balloons -- and both are absolutely, utterly stunning. If "Seventh Tree" is half this exquisite, we're in for quite a ride.

"It's a blue, bright blue Saturday, hey hey/And the pain has started to slip away, hey," Alison Goldfrapp sings over a warm, fragile little melody that ripples with piano and ambient ... Read More:

This album is one of my first since starting to buy vinyl again. What a joy - there are no sounds quite as pleasing to the ear as those from a good analogue system. Goldfrapp's latest is at the culmination of her (their)several attempts to get into a chilled out niche in the market and it succeeds well. All those electronic sounds and embellishments back up the vocals well and still sound great off vinyl. Perhaps a quibble though; the song/tune writing errs towards samey and did I detect a bit of Felt Mountain here and there? I guess it goes with the genre. Very good just the same for a soothing hour, with no distractions. Just need to find a way to deter that dust and fluff from finding the vinyl next. Nostalgia never changes its themes....
