This is another solid effort from such a dependable band. Unfortunately, for me, it's not enough. Yes, the opener, 'Moronic Colossus', is an absolute stormer, and sure to be the big anthem at the next Euro open-air, but when you know their collective brains can deliver so much more, you can't help but feel deflated. The super-tight metalcore riffs are the kind that the Bjorler bros can write in their sleep, and in that respect, it's only the fantastic vocals of Peter Dolving that lift this band above all the others playing this type of music. As we saw with Dolving's previous band, Mary Beats Jane, he brings an interesting sensibility that you don't often get in metal. First of all.... there is no song called the crowing ? you mean Cynic ? or have i missed a song off my ipod :S :P ? Second of all i have loved the haunted for a few years they are my fav band and in my opinion this is the second best album they have done.... their best album is rEVOLVEr then this album is second best... i base this on i dont like marco as much ( the old singer ) Peter Dolvings vocals are amazing they are much clearer and tighter.... old school fans that think this albums is disapointing compared to the old albums are retards... the band has taken a slightly different approach to this album and its amazing... this is the haunteds second album and the first with marco aro,he brought a more growly scream than peter dolving,in the follow up to this aro had a more death metal growl but here it is more laid back and that is the key to the albums brilliance,it is speedy thrash with yards of melody and plenty of groove thrown in,songs like bury your dead,leech and the superb hollow ground are all on here,its a heavier album than their debut but nonetheless melodic and memorable,the swedish sound is unmistakable here as is the slayer esque riffs and drive.all in all an excellent example in furious thrash with melody,the way that thrash should be!

this quite simply is the best thrash album ever made it really is that simple. dont get me wrong i love 'reign in blood' and 'south of heaven' and also 'slaughter of the soul' by at the gates who were probably the only band who ever came close to beating slayer at their own game, but at the gates folded and then they morphed into the haunted and by the gods am i happy about that(not the folding but the amazing transformation). the secret to this album is two things 1.the riffs oh my dear god the riffs, there are more rifs per minute of play than i think i have heard anywhere else in recorded music and the best bit is that they are all awesome 2.is the vocals and the twisted lyrics that dolving is spitting,whispering,screaming,singing and/or whatever else it ... Ariel Pink is one of those artists that straddles the line between bizarre lo-fi and.... everything else. Funk, pop, electronica, whatever. And that shines pretty brightly in "Scared Famous," a collection of recordings from the era before Pink was "discovered" by Animal Collective and became a cult figure. But fear not, there's plenty of his lo-fi psychedelic sound here, speckled with crazy sound effects and schizophrenic stylings. It opens with a vaguely Spanish pop intro, completely catchy and full of Pink's tinny yowling. But "Gopacapulpo" evolves into something very different: a sort of lo-fi Beach Boys psychpop song, punctuated by Pink's twisted experimental pop moments -- it seems he can't restrain himself long enough to do something really catchy consistently. ah the haunted,one of swedens finest thrash metal bands,thats what they are folks,granted part of the band were part of at the gates and deserve praise for the gothenberg sound but this isnt what the haunted do,they are simply thrash metal and this is their most intense and angry album,its true that slayer fans will gobble this up but the haunted deserve their own plaudits,after this album the original singer returned and order was restored but this is heavy so dont be afraid
