"The Number Of The Beast" is an absolute classic, a landmark album in music/rock/metal history. And this reissue is an absolute disaster, with the classic cover printed in wrong colors, and the audio victimized by the infamous "loudness war" (Google the expression if you don't know what it means), with the music having been turned into one big mass of distorted noise. I did a full audio analysis of the whole album and just can't understand how the band's label could have let this precious material fall into the hands of inept audio engineers capable of producing something this amateurish. I wonder if the band had any say in these "enhanced" releases. Avoid this thing and buy an older, non-enhanced and non-remastered CD edition of the album if ... Read More:

This album is bloody awesome. This is the start of Iron Maiden the great and they only got better and better. Here we have the vocalist Paul Di'ianno who was before one of the greatest vocalist of all time Bruce Dickinson. Paul Dianno is a really good vocalist. My favourite songs are Sanctuary, Running Free, Remember Tommorow, Phantom Of The Opera(amazing), Strange World(which sounds so much like Rainbows Catch The Rainbow) & the classic title song Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden's first 2 albums are occansionaly overlooked because of iron maidens masterpiece The Number Of The Beast but they are damn good albums. This is a great for maiden fans, new maiden fans buy The Number Of The Beast. UP THE IRONS!!!!!

If, like me, you have this band's back catalogue already then there isn't any point in this (especially if you have a CD burner!) as it offers no new material and is simply a nicely packaged compilation! HOWEVER, I have a mate at work, a couple of years younger than myself, who after several years in the wilderness (marriage, mortgage etc) has returned to the metal fold, and absoluteley LOVES this CD! It's a really good starting block or as a refresher! I can endorse the 5 stars, as the material here is taken from what were by far the best years of Maiden's career - they still make some decent music today but there is less fire in the belly, now they are the wrong side of 50. This is another magical Iron maiden heavy metal masterpiece. The whole album is a classic and one of their best but it's impossible to pick a best iron maiden album. From the classic Aces High to the classic 13 minutes long Rime Of The Ancient Mariner it's all classic heavy metal. You may be reading the reviews seeing some people saying one song is bad on this album no their isn't this whole album is a masterpiece(as i mentioned already). If i had to pick some favourite songs it would be aces high, flash of the blade, powerslave & rime of the ancient mariner . This is the perfect start to Iron Maiden the albums Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind and this are the albums everyone should start off with with maiden. I now own all of Maidens albums. Over the last few weeks i have listened to them all, and this one has to be their best. I really love that raw early sound which they had but appeared to lose once bruce took over. dont get me wrong, bruce did a fantastic job and i really think the number of the beast is his best record with the band. but there is something very special about the sound the band had on the first two albums. something that has never been repeated. When the band released 'no prayer for the dying' in 1990 they were trying to recapture that sound they had around the time of killers. they never recaptured that great sound. Yes they can. This album is amazing starting the album off with nickos awesome drum intro then going into an awesome song which is Where Eagles Dare, awesome great chorus and solos and riffs and of course vocals. Revelations is an amazing song a bit slower but still got those riffs and an awesome solo again i dont need to mention the vocals again. Flight Of The Icarus why do some maiden fans have a problem with this i love it great song and chorus and solo, Die With Your Boots is another classic. Then the obvious classic on this album The Trooper a rocking track brilliant solos and lyrics and an awesome riff it has classic written all over it. Still life it has a strange intro to it but it's awesome. Quest For Fire this is the wrost song on the album still good just a bit weak, ... Read More:

'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' is the first Iron Maiden album I ever bought (quickly followed by everything before or since!) and I have to say it is one I still love after all these years. From the racing album opener 'Moonchild' to storming tracks such as 'Evil That Men Do', 'Clairvoyant' and 'Infinite Dreams' and more besides, this album produces one amazing song after another. In fact I'd go so far to say that this is one of those rare albums where every track is worthy of inclusion and adds to the overall feel of the album. This was initially snubbed by some Maiden fans for it's use of keyboards, but is often recognised as the classic it always was now hindsight can be applied. This has got to be one of THE all-time greatest live albums...from start to finish it doesn't let up in its barrage of awesome songs and Bruce Dickinson playing the crowd like never before...add to it that immortal line, and you've got yourself Maiden at their very best, which is saying something! (As an aside, my title comes from the fact that Bruce is a registered pilot...how cool would it be to hear that if you were flying!)

I have been a fan for over 20 years since the days of somewhere in time and seventh son. And hand on my heart this is the best album the maiden have ever done. The instant I heard the album I was hooked. It is an instant winner and you will never tire of the tracks. They thunder along with great guts and balls. Dickinson rattles away the awesome lirics with such depth that you will not be dissapointed with any of the tracks on this corker of an album. I need say no more....buy this now, Maiden rocks again.....

Well i just can't believe it, they have done it again, Brave new world rocks like a 9.9 on the richter scale....My god, the title track is pure gold and then blood brothers goes beyond....The album is just perfect in ever detail. It rocks like no other and i am an avid fan. A matter of life and death was awesome but i just can't describe this, it is un-describable. Just buy, sit back and rock away....you will not be dissapointed....Long live the Maiden
