Music : Kenny Ball and His Jazzmen: the Pye Jazz Anthology
In the twenties, thirties and early forties, a lot of pop music was jazz-based. The jazz influence in pop music faded rapidly during the 1940's, but jazz musicians staged a mini-comeback in the late fifties and early sixties in Britain. Chris Barber, Dave Brubeck and Acker Bilk all had one or two hits, but Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen had a whole string of hits. Kenny was a trumpeter. Other musicians played the trombone, drums, clarinet, banjo and bass. Most of their music was instrumental, but they did record some vocal tracks.

Their first hit was Samantha, a cover of a song from the movie High Society. That was followed by their biggest and most famous hit, Midnight in Moscow. Other hits included March of the Siamese children, Green ... Read More:

4.In Disneyland by: Kenny Ball

Music : In Disneyland
This CD is, frankly, brilliant. Some of the best known Disney songs performed by a great Jazz band, who give their own spin to the songs without the pretentious showing off you often find on Disney-made compilations.

Some of the songs are sung and some aren't, and some are faster than others but they're all Jazzy and I could happily listen to any of them. There's a nice mix of old and new songs, and all of them barring Track 12 (My Romance) are well known. I'd say the highlight is the marvellously energetic Ugly Bug Ball, but the cd is full of strong songs and there are several rivals for best track.

In short, this CD is a lot of fun. Happy music to sing and dance to, and great value.
