Best Album of 2008 so far.. (November!) Buy it, enjoy it love it. The only Kings of Leon track I've really enjoyed before was Red Morning Light. This Album has changed all that and I often listen to it on the way to work. I love it. Buy Van Occupanther by Midlake at the same time for a change of pace and divine aural pleasure. Enjoy!

I wasn't a Kings of Leon fan before I heard 'Only by the Night', but am now, so I tried this one. Not quite as good but still very enjoyable, and you can see the path they were taking toward their latest work with this offereing. Recommended, there are a few really good songs here too!

best of their 4 albums. their most consistent, it really sounds like they are on fire and inspired. raw rock at its best a-la 70's ac/dc or credence clearwater revival but not mere copyists, they have their own very unique twist on things. better than the 1st album as this is more cohesive as the 1st was a mix of an earlier e.p and some new songs and as a result sounds a bit disjointed, i doubt they will ever be this good again as their next 2 albums are lacking in both fire and inspiration.

When Q magazine asked Noel gallager what band he was looking out for at T in the park years ago he said, "kings of leon, They are my new favourite band". I imediately bought the album when it came out (alongside the darkness's permission to land....cough) He wasn't wrong. Youth and young manhood was blindingly brilliant. Lyiricaly the songs are brilliantly smutty yet you really have to be looking for the sexual reference. Thats really what the album is about. Being young and desperate to have it off with ladies. But musicaly "Molly's chamber, wasted time and Holy roller novacaine" are simpy outstanding!
